Things could be a lot worse on the scales, but I'm not headed in the right direction.

What am I doing right? Still walking as much as before. Still not eating or buying loaves of white bread, cakes, or cookies. Sticking with decent snacks like nuts and fruit.

What am I doing wrong? Eating too much, especially at night. Indulging in treats like frozen yogurt, pizza and popcorn. Allowing coffee to become an addiction again.

I have been feeling really bad the last few days, and I suspect it's the caffeine. I can tell such a huge difference. I'm having difficulty sleeping. I'm biting my nails. I'm twitchy and irritable. I've got to kick the habit once and for all, starting right now. I had a mug this morning, but threw it out after I drank half. It started as a dessert substitute for me after dinner a couple of months ago, after having kicked the habit when I started this new WOE. Then I started having a cup in the morning. I had been feeling so incredibly good a couple of months ago, but not so much now. I am shocked at what a difference has occurred in my overall sense of well-being. It's just not there right now. I feel bloated and my liver feels tender again. Am I imagining this? I don't think so. I guess I can't tolerate coffee any more. Even decaf.

I was also addicted to coffee and had the same symptoms you describe. I now really like coffees made from chicory or cereal grain and rarely drink real coffee at home. Still have the occasional one at work though.

sigh... Coco... eating too many carbs is additive too. So quit the frozen yogurt and pizza. Pizza is horrible cuz the crust is a real bad carb source without flavor. Regarding the coffee... I use to drink 6 cups a day... and was sort of getting sick on it. So I cut back... just 2 cups in the morning... early and later... then that's it. Have a great day Coco... you'll be ok... I know it!

Thanks for commenting, Lara. I will probably switch to green tea again and get over my craving for coffee. Matt, I guess I wasn't thinking of fro-yo as a carb, but it must have a lot of sugars to be so tasty. I love pizza crust, and I wonder if a whole wheat pizza would be better for you? Sometimes we'll make a homemade pizza using a thin piece of whole grain flat bread, and that seems pretty harmless.

One of the biggest changes to my life over the past year has been giving up caffeine. It's not been easy, but, surprisingly, I haven't missed it as much as I thought I might have. Once past the initial shock of its absence, I was surprised to find that I really didn't need it to wake up and stay awake.
