Katsolo's Journal, 15 January 2022

Slowly it goes, but I'll take it. Had some crazy stomach cramps last night that I'm going to attribute to my salad mix and we're done with that for a while as the freshness has been waning lately. Sad, because it's tasty, but I can pivot and make my own until it gets better. What's really interesting is that the Asian cabbage mix has been MIA for months now and the kale mix is bad after about three days max. Too much money to keep throwing it away.

Woke up to a tsunami alert, that's a new one. Didn't know they added that to my app, noise was harsh. Guess it's a good thing. I live pretty high up, so no biggie for me.

Yesterday, after specifically checking the weather for the weekend, I took all the covers off the patio furniture. It rained last night. As in everything wet rain. Kinda funny. It'll dry off, but I was trying to avoid that cycle. Since it's still drizzly this morning, I guess we're staying in and purging more stuff. I have a pile of boxes and bags in my living room ready to go to Goodwill, but I prefer to stay off the roads here when it's wet and that location requires a freeway.

Keeping it short. Weekend rules. Might swim. Date night. Might watch MacBeth if BF is into it. Cast looks amazing.

No owl last night, no new pics. Enjoy the day!

Might try calling St Vincent de Paul or Purple Heart and see if they pick up donations in your area. Still donating to worthy organizations without the hassle of playing chicken on the freeway. Just a thought. Enjoy your weekend.

I’m not sure what salad mix you’re using but here on the East Coast several salad mixes were recalled for some listeria or salmonella or something. However, when I get back to eating more green stuff after weeks of junk I get cramps too. Hope you feel better. You got this!

I used to love all the bagged salads but I agree with you. They just don't last! Like you said, 3 days max. I buy a head of romaine, wash it, cut it up, and put it in an rectangular Tupperware container and put a paper towel on top of it.b It will last me 2 weeks.

We love the tender butter lettuce grown hydroponically and sold with the root ball still on it. Although it is sold at Walmart (used to be 2.99) the 99 cent store around the corner from me almost always has it for 1.29. I will only buy the green. Some times they have the purple which is better for you but I can't see in the package well enough to see if the dark one has yucky leaves. They are so tender they melt in your mouth, wish it was organic. Second best is Trader Joe's Organic Baby Lettuce mix. Much better than Spring Mix, and no funky smell.

Tsunami watch here too! Big sis is in AZ and warned my hubby by text b4 he got the warning on his mobile-phone too. We're only 8 blocks from the Pacific Ocean here in SoCal.

Kat, bummer about the salad mix and that you had cramps. Yes, a bit more work with a head of lettuce, but like you said, it does ensure a certain level of freshness. I found out about the tsunami warning on here from Shrewdness and when my son began group texting the family yesterday morning I told him about it because he wasn't aware of it. That son lives in Tustin/Irvine, so he's a bit inland and gets more of the fire alerts. I hope you enjoy your indoor Sunday. 💕👍😊
