Mjgh06's Journal, 14 January 2014

I started yesterday with a change to my time of eating. I m going to try to get most of my calories for the day in by lunch with a small dinner if still hungry. I have also started adding in new foods to try. So far I have tried a few nuts, lc pb, unsweetened almond milk, Nectar whey protein, and refried beans. I am not much of a fruit eater so I won't be adding that in. For January so far I have lost right at 4 lbs, so the new items haven't caused much damage. I don't eat them everyday, just on occasion. Still drinking my coffee and occasional diet soda, and keeping my fat% at 70 or above. My main issue has been with protein and trying to keep it at 60 a day. That has been really hard to do. Most days are around 30. So will be working harder on that.

On other news, my 20yo son has come to stay with us for awhile. He doesn't have a job or car. He wants to go in the military but he needs to GAIN weight - 40 lbs. I don't know how to make him gain weight. He eats like a squirrel, not much at all. I've told him to eat lots of potatoes and bagels which until I go grocery shopping again he can't as I have none in the house. A little stressful here, so just maintaining weight will be a good thing.
163.8 lb Lost so far: 18.6 lb.    Still to go: 33.8 lb.    Diet followed 100%.

I have an issue with getting enough protein as well. I've decided to keep eggs, canned salmon and greek yogurt on stock so I can bump up the protein intake when needed. Seems to help me out.

If he wants to gain weight to go into the military, he should bump up his protein too. Hey, you and I talked awhile ago about protein shakes... did you get anywhere with that? Keep cranking, MJGH!!! You've added some great things to your diet. :D

I did start to add in the Syntrax Nectar. Well, when I remember to make it. I really like them, but have to figure out how to get them to blend into the almond milk better without clumping.

Oh, for my son I told him he needs around 3500 cals a day with 250-300g carbs per day. I am hoping that is correct - he is 6ft and only 114 when he weighed here.
