"Placeholder" ... more later

Later is now!! Quickly though because I still need to make my lunch, get the snow off the car and get to work!!

Yes ... The scale actually decided to show me a lower number today, giving me the opportunity to get rid of the red "weigh in now" sign. I won't complain ... the chart IS moving in the desired direction. I am feeling well. And that is even after a partial weekend out of town AND a superbowl game. Now ... keep it going Moose ... stay the course ...

Yes we ended up at a friend's house yesterday so my hubby could watch the superbowl. He was rooting for the Steelers though ... and they did not win as of course you all already know. He didn't want to call out friends because he thought it was rude to invite ourselves over to their house. I knew they wouldn't mind at all, my girlfriend would have told me if it wasn't okay!! He didn't want to go to a bar where there would be drunk people. So I took him to town, ostensibly to buy groceries (which we did) and then asked him again for the millionth time ... do you want me to call Bob and Christina??? As he was bemoaning the fact that he could not watch the game. He finally said "yes." Thank goodness!!! They said come on over!! He is such a funny creature sometimes. Wears me out!!!

It snowed overnight. I don't know how many inches ... maybe 3 or 4? Enough to make everything pretty again. Not too cold though ... it is a balmy 31 outside right now.

I tried the intermediate portion of an exercise DVD recommended by a dear friend here on fatsecret yesterday. Oh no. Not for me!!! It is a kettle bell workout and involves pretend jump roping, jumping in place, jogging in place ... and this girl just doesn't do any of that well for a variety of reasons. There is a reason the elliptical is the piece of equipment I own at home. There is a reason you never hear me talking about running!! LOL!!! The beginner part is okay. My dear friend is a petite little thing (though she might not describe herself as such) and I am 5'10" ... right now 190 something and the house just might fall down if I did what that instructor wanted me to do!!!

So ... I am sticking to my elliptical for my cardio. I'll still do the kettle bells. I like them a lot, but not with jumping up and down!!!

Interestingly I must comment ... the last few days my calories have been higher than they have been for the last two weeks and that is when the scale declines. Do you think there is a relationship? Do you think I need to be eating a higher average of calories than I was? Or do you just think it was a fluke? (oops I almost accidentally wrote a bad word!! LOL!!)

So before I leave let me ponder grateful thoughts for today ...

1. I am grateful my husband finally conceded that calling our friends (who do have tv reception) was okay.

2. I am grateful to see a decline on the scale ... regardless of how briefly it may stay there.

3. I am grateful others can jump up and down and get their heart pumping in that manner and I on the other hand, can do the same thing by working hard on the elliptical!!

4. I am grateful that I feel more positive these days and less obsessed with the reality that I gained a few pounds. I am feeling less like a "failure."

5. I am grateful that my mom will be home is less than 2 weeks!!!

Yes. I continue to practice kindness towards myself. It is necessary for me to do so. It is much too easy to slip into self recrimination and judgment. So ... as so many of you do ... please continue to join me!!! I hope everyone is ready to face today!! Personally I'd love to stay home and surf your journals!! LOL!!! But, duty calls!!! Take care!!

Sounds to me like you need a good sports bra!! LOL Glad you got your hubby to agree on going to your friends house - even though the game was a blow out in the beginning... at least there were some funny commercials. Have a good Monday!

I have to agree with Momo on the sports bra thing. Try wearing two at once if you feel a lot of jiggle, it works pretty well if you can't find a single sports bra that's supportive enough.

Thanks gals ... but I'm going to opt for exercise that doesn't create jiggle!! LOL!!! I'm an old, old woman who doesn't want to bounce with or without proper support!! LOL!!

YAY! So glad to hear it. Keep it up! Hey, jumping isn't for everyone :) I will jog and run, but I refuse to do any of those step classes where you jump up and down on the step. It really hurts my back, sports bra or no.

Thank you Kate ... I'm just not a bouncy person!! LOL!!

What a great journal!!! I think its important to go at your own level with these videos and not jump too far ahead of yourself because that will only make you not want to exercise so do something you can do well and work hard at it before stepping up the level. A friend of mine got hurt because her girls slapped her back... Painful she says it is LOL. Kate has a good point about jumping etc. I cant jump but what white boy can jump? LOL I remember I tried jump squats OMG that was hoot!

Carol, I cannot do the jumping at all...knees are too bad...the kettle bell workout I have doesn't have any kind of impact exercises on it, thank goodness! lol You sound wonderful, glad that you had a great time with your friends and congrats on the scale movement....I think the winter doldrums may be vacating FS!! YAY!! Have a wonderful week!
