Good morning!

(Check out the video at the end of the journal!)

Yesterday was a nice day. Really nice.

I went over my calories, but I also had a HUGE calorie burn, much more than I had expected. I just ended up being generally active all day. Nothing wild and crazy, but just constant movement and general lighter activity. At least, this is what my Fitbit Flex says.

My RDI for yesterday was 2,000 (I set it to 2,000, it's not a calculation), my burn was 3,700, and my calorie intake was 2,600. I was just where I SHOULD be, but not really where my goal was to be.

It's all good though. I felt a STRONG urge for meats yesterday, and having worked out harder than usual, lifting more than usual, I figured I simply needed protein - so I massively upped my protein intake. Obviously, I took a calorie hit to do this.

The result today is that I am down 600 grams since yesterday - even if I had large meals for both lunch and dinner, and plenty of protein rich snacks.

...

The original plan was to have a Low Cal Day yesterday.

To be honest, I'm not sure I really want to get back into the Low Cal Days. I do NOT feel geared for them at all. They're tough on me these days, and even more so when I am not at work. Maybe that'll be easier to do next week?

...

I am sure I am in enough calorie deficit to be doing good regardless. The calorie burn for the last week average 3,100 calories per day, and my calorie intake averages 1,800. I have zero issues with my calorie intake.

The trouble is, of course, that I STILL would like to be just THREE kilos lighter. I wish I could just say that this isn't needed, and that it's probably just muscle build, but fact is that I did NOT build three kilos of muscle, but three kilos of fat.

After my surgery, this will probably not bother me. I'm feeling great at this weight, and it's easy to maintain.

The surgery requires me to be crazy lean, though, and for that I need to drop just a little.

I'm still looking to find the right way to do this. Starving myself won't do it, obviously. I don't want to lose muscle, I don't want to have any setbacks on my training.

So what to do?

I do feel that I am doing well. The last month or two, my weight has slowly gone up, but this last week it has stayed within ONE kilo. That is very rare that I've been able to do this - especially with a party last Saturday. I'm surprised that I pulled this one off.

The lack of sugar definitely plays a part in this.

...

I've been "sugar free" for weeks now. I'm feeling a LOT stronger when it comes to avoiding sugars now, and more confident that I can keep doing it if I put my mind to it.

I hope there will be a day where I am more comfortable with having "just a little", though that day might never come. If it doesn't - then so be it.

...

Today, there is NOTHING going on. Wife and I will go do our walk, probably do a little shopping, and have lunch somewhere out on the town, I think. I will focus on eating the right things as usual, and just enjoy being off from work, not having to do a damn thing.

I might practice a few songs for the band. I might be messing a little more with my computer. I might take an extra walk, and make sure to generally be active again. That's about all.

...

Speaking of being active - I find this really interesting:

It's INCREDIBLE how much being on my feet changes my calorie burn according to my Fitbit. It's wild.

The big difference between, say Monday and Wednesday this week is that I spent a few hours more on my feet. No extra workouts, no longer walks, no anything. Just the time at work yesterday at the gym. I had NOTHING going on at the gym, just being there, but making sure to be standing up instead of sitting at home watching TV. The difference is a 1,000 calorie extra burned throughout the day. I find that WILD.

Of course, just standing up will not do it. It's about just being around. I think I move more than I realize when I stand up. It's easy, efficient calorie burn, and it's something that I try to do all the time.

I stand up at work all day. I walk everywhere - we don't own a car.

I can see that being home this week, I have to focus a LOT more on being active, to get a decent burn. I'm glad that I am still pulling through, even if my average has gone down 100 calories per day. The highs and lows with 1,000 calories difference are obviously extremes - but it IS interesting that the HIGH day didn't come from a very hectic day in any way.

...

Today, I'm thankful for:
- No plans!
- Vacation!
- A nice night's sleep!
- Coffee!
- Wife!

Life is indeed good here. See for yourself. Thank you, ClassicRocker, for sharing. :)

PS: My drummer put up a little cam at the private gig that my band Burnin' Live! played a few weeks ago. He uploaded a few videos, and I thought I'd share a little of it. The quality isn't great, but it gives you an idea of what we're all about. In case you can't tell, I'm the one closest to the camera, blocking the view of everyone else. :)

Enjoyed the video! My husband was lead singer in a local band here in his 20s. He is quite good. He still toys around with it some. You guys look like you really have a great time.
