madaboutmoose's Journal, 07 September 2013

9.8 lbs in 2 weeks! And I was totally ready to eat anything and everything last night but I resisted! Why? Stressing myself out. Feeling anxious. Too many irons in the fire and I have unreasonable expectations of myself. An over achiever and a tad (lol) on the obsessive side, that's me!

My DH told me last night we have to get out of the house today. Ok. I've been "out of the house" every day to go to work. He's had the week off and I guess he is bored. My man is a strange creature. Hates being home alone. S I don't know what we are going to do but we will go do something.

Listened to a song on the radio yesterday that got me to thinking. Don't know who does it but its about a man asking an older man (probably sitting in a bar!) about advice about life. The old mans advice is "don't blink." You go to take a nap as a 6 year old and wake up 25 marrying your high school sweetheart so on and so forth, about how quickly time passes. It made me think. Suddenly I'm 55. 2013? Seems like yesterday it was 1983 and I was bringing my baby into this world. He's 30! I can still feel the little bugger in my arms, still feel like breastfeeding when a newborn cries! So strange.

The lesson for me is to slow down. Quit worrying about tomorrow. Tomorrows come and go and my stressing about things doesn't help in the least. Be in this moment. If I blink I'll be 75!

And of course be kinder to me. My lifelong journey. My never truly grasped lesson. Don't blink.

Enjoy your moments. Be good to yourselves and kind to those in your life, even when they drive you crazy.

Beautifully stated! I have a bulletin board in my office where I pin the pictures the families I work with give me of their children. I know that scene in Doc Hollywood! I am blessed to be able to work in such a personal way with others. That is what I need to think of when the paperwork and life gets crazy. I get paid for supporting babies to grow healthy in their families. I get to be a support to parents who feel like they are going nuts and help them feel just a tad saner. I get unsolicited hugs every work day. And today I moved my body, I am still able to move and think, and I have friends and family who love me. Not too shabby!

Nice journal Carol. And congrats on a huge drop in 2 weeks. I agree that moments are very important and really all we have. Which is why journalling as we do is wonderful because a lot of our moments are captured here, where otherwise they would be lost. Hope you found something fun to do today with your DH and so glad that things are great for you right now :)

Good evening..Carol..I can soo relate about blinking the eye and time has already passed..when we are young we don't think of the time as much..We really should stop and smell the roses and the saying goes..life is sooo short...great job on that loss...:O)
