Katsolo's Journal, 03 October 2020

Reset from the extension of September into October, so we'll pretend this is the first day. September was full of unforeseen circumstances, but made it through relatively intact. Goal was 16 swims, got 9, not bad for three weeks basically completely off.

For October, going to chase that goal of 16 swims again and 100 miles. No idea what the watch thinks my challenge should be, I'm sure all my numbers are down, so will likely get an easy load. (edit: goal is 2,060 exercise minutes - totally doable)

I don't think work is going to taper off which is kind of weird. I ended up doing almost 55 hours which doesn't sound bad, but they were all super intense stress-wise, which is why I just chilled out last night. Was just tired and ended up going to bed early. Still so hot, but will take the dogs to the water this weekend so they can have some fun. I can't walk them when it's still 80 at night, it's just too hard on them unless we've conditioned for it - which we haven't.

Trying to decide whether to decorate the house for Halloween super early this year. Really torn on this. I want to because this year has been such an overall bummer, but I also have no intention of handing out candy, so probably best that I don't. I guess I should text neighborhood parents and see what their plans are. I have a small stash of mini play-doh's for the toddlers on the block that I know personally.

Numbers below are fine. Swimming today along with some yard stuff that's been festering while I've been out of commission. Thinking we need to treat today as a new start. Feeling pretty good, it's not hot yet and I did already get one good swim in on the first of the month. So away we go.

Onward.

We usually trick or treat all together so I leave a giant bowl of candy out and let kids get their own. So far- for some reason- no one has just taken the whole bowl.

They already cancelled trick or treating in LA, assume they might here. Although are they going to arrest a bunch of tiny minors??? I have cafe lights that can be changed to flash green and white, thinking that might be fun to brighten up the neighborhood. I need something to be actual fun or at least semi-normal.

In our neighborhood- porch lights turned on = candy. No light=no fun.

and not just the kids. I had a dad throw a fit one year because I ran out of candy for his infant child. cussed at me so I called the dogs and they came running. funny, but sad. I do have cameras, so it helps. stuff still gets stolen pretty regularly around here.
