cocobutt's Journal, 14 October 2010

I roasted fingerling potatoes, asparagus, jalapenos, and garlic last night. Mr Coco was curled up in the fetal position a few hours afterwards until he got some Pepto. It didn't bother me like too much bbq would've. But the garlic did leave an aftertaste like motor oil. It tastes better fresh or sauteed. After roasting the potatoes, I coated them with a little olive oil and chopped Italian parsley. I love fresh herbs.

This day is so gorgeous -- it's windy with clear blue skies. The elms have turned colors and are shedding clouds of gold with each breeze. We ate lunch today at one of our favorite little bohemian hideaway cafes. Chestnut soup and quiche lorraine for me and a brie panini for Mr Coco.

Tonight I have web design class. I'm excited to be back in school, even if it is one of those noncredit hobbyist courses. I'm hoping I'll have a knack for coding, but we'll see. It's been years since I've had to do homework.

Got my full bloodwork report today. Blood sugar 92, Cholesterol 146, Triglycerides 66, HDL 36, LDL 95. They said my HDL (good cholesterol) was a little low and to exercise to improve it. I recall my BP being 122/76. Other than the HDL I guess I made an A.

If you like fresh herbs, fresh chopped oregano is good on roasted potatoes. Chopped basil is good on zucchini and braised spinach
