Debbie Cousins's Journal, 26 March 2020

I had ordered a deluxe chaise lounge chair (for when it gets warm enough to start tanning on my deck) and arrived a couple days ago. Worked out PERFECTLY to make a sleeping station for my grand daughter, who will be with me for the greater part of the next two weeks so she doesn't get infected with COVID-19 from her mother. Last night, I taught Maebie how to play Skip-Bo (which I've never been a huge fan of, but my sister and mother used to play it ALL the time, so I had to play whenever I would visit them). She really enjoyed it, and it can be a new "our thing," especially since we're not sure the pool will be open this summer.

With all the excitement of my daughter going to the hospital yeterday I was doing a lot of stress-eating. Thankfully, the scale didn't go up this morning (this EARLY morning, since I woke up at 1am to go to the bathroom and couldn't go back to sleep!)

No critters got into my green beans yesterday after I cut chicken wire which I cut to size and placed on the soil of each plant. The shape of the wire is perfect for the plants to have room to grow between the wires! Rained a good deal of the day yesterday. Hope they didn't get TOO much water. Supposed to rain here (VA) again tomorrow and Saturday. Trusting they won't get water-logged. Maybe the rain will be light. Predicted to be 82 on Sunday!

You enjoy your grand-daughter's visit, even under such sad circumstances. I might have to call on your expertise for cold weather gardening; we are hunkered down at the bottom (cold) end of our country on a friend's small acreage and they don't grow edibles so I am starting a tiny vegetable garden. No weight gain is nearly as good as a weight loss!

No weight gain is GREAT, Janet! I've been thankful to maintain the past couple days, in spite of my out-of-control eating. Believe me, I have ZERO expertise in gardening! I was blessed to have a small yield of green beans last year, but that's all I've planted. I just enjoy the excitement of seeing the new growth every day, and the kids really enjoy them, too.
