Fritzy 22's Journal, 19 March 2020

No weight change since yesterday. I am trying to practice "shelter in place" or "social distancing". Getting directions from so many sources - the state, the White House. Not much from my local community other than most restaurants are only taking TOGO orders and bring the order to the car. I had to go out this morning to pick up a prescription and to take the cat to the vet. Bad news on Callie, her lymph nodes were swollen and the vet could feel internal swelling so took x-rays. Said it's lymphoma. They were able to get some sample to biopsy. I didn't ask a lot of questions. I know Callie's time is limited. She's been losing weight and throwing up just water almost every morning. They gave her an injection that should last a week or two. Hope it will make her feel better. Her appetite is great.

Anyway, I'm wondering why it's okay to the pharmacy and the grocery store. I'm know it's because groceries and prescriptions are necessary to have. But it can't be any safer than anywhere else you go where there are people. I read the virus can stay on cardboard and other surfaces for hours, maybe days. When I got a box from Amazon yesterday. I brought it in and opened it (careful not to touch my face), threw the box in the garage and the contents (3 cases of cat food) I put in the pet room. Washed my hands twice during the process because my nose itched. What's scary about the coronavirus is that it sounds like you could get sick just touching something someone else has touched. The pharmacy doesn't want paper money, they ask you pay with a card and they don't want a signature and will sign for you if you say it is okay. It's an adjustment.

I bet when this is all over , we will become obsessive hand washers and afraid off germs for the rest of our lives..

Jdeuster, I was a germaphobe anyway so this is not a huge step for me. Fritz, I'm so sorry about your cat. That's rough. Hugs

Thanks Jdeuster. As long as I am in the house I don't worry so much about washing my hands after touching things. But when I go out I have a Clorox wipe in my hand when I pump gas or open any doors. Even when I punch in the numbers on a keypad. Tatauu - thanks. Callie seems better today. Can't feel the glands in her neck I felt yesterday (that's what prompted the call to the vet, felt like several bubbles) and the vet will call me Monday. She didn't throw up today and has a good appetite.
