br_e_co's Journal, 13 December 2019

Well, I have been trying to have patience with myself.

November's goal was a modest 3 pounds to 168 and was below it until the end of the month, which had me losing .8 pounds, essentially no weight loss. I chalked it up to salt, beer, and turkey celebrations. Thought I'd bounce back - and a few days ago, I was down where I felt like it should be, but then it snapped back. I do know I tend to go up before I drop - but just not catching that drop. It goes up then back to where it was, no more.

OK, no panic, adjusted workouts and taking days off. Adjusted eating, to try to reduce sugar, bump up protein, etc. Trying to drink even more water, etc. Today, I felt I should've been in the 167's, and this is not that.

I know it is tricky. And in the 50's things change - so it may be slower - but really strikes me it is too slow, given what I am putting in. Granted I am down pant sizes, belly is down, strength and conditioning way up. Mixing it up too, not all one thing.

My patience is starting to wear thin. From a physical perspective I do rigorous workouts, from a fasting perspective, I go 16-18 hours, and from a CICO perspective, even the most conservative estimation of daily activity, site shows me well in the range to lose a pound a week.

So last time i complained I took a drop - guess I should complain every day! :) But seriously - I get it comes in fits and starts - but this plateau is insane and driving me insane.

Today I am over feeding to the tune of 1000+ more calories than normal, and I am going to start eating breakfast and giving IF a break, here and there. I may have to start carb cycling and do full 24 hour fasts to really keep the body guessing. Not sure. but, at the least, me pigging out today will soothe my soul and I will rethink my approach tomorrow.

Sorry to vent - and I know I share that it is a journey - but sometimes you get a f(l)at tire and it kind of sh*ts on your enthusiasm, slowing your journey. Ugh.

Back to it. Love the community and support. Would not be anywhere without all the knowledge and sharing I gain from being on FS.

Sincerely, Grumpy. :)

You should vent, this is *your* journal 😉 It sucks that my Power BI reports don't work for you, because they allow me just make decisions on 'what happens' rather than what 'should happen'. Take Care!

Grumpy, hey fellow long term FS-er❣️ Fat loss is a slow process. When we’re maintaining a normal weight and we’re losing inches, we are losing fat and gaining muscle❣️ It’s still progress👍

Thanks, @Adefwebserver ... i really don't like to vent ... but really starting to pull my hair out in frustration. :) Appreciate your encouragement to vent. I use to journal pretty regularly - just lack of time. And yeah, it would be fantastic if your app would ingest my data, I am guessing you haven't heard from FS platform devs - no sweat - if and when would be great. I may just export to CSV and run some python or R analysis against it. I can uncover something with simple linear regression. Though, I could also use the CSV export and import into PowerBI as well, I suppose. I will continue to try to keep my body guessing - at some point this is going to shake loose.

Hey br_e_co, progress is progress. I saw a 6lb upswing in 2 days since my weigh in and I'm not stressing (at least not here on FS, LOL). I know this is water retention because there is no eating blindly. Everything is calculated. Carb cycling and OMAD worked for me and if it doesn't work for you stretch out that fast to 36. You can do it!!! Speaking of mixing it up, if you were to spend time going through my journals, you will see I love to mix it up. You can do it!!!

thanks @Ches ... will check out your journals. You're rocking it, for sure. I feel I am doing pretty well given this is my 3rd "shrink" ... i typically have a handle on things ... today hit a nerve, that's all. I can bounce back. Thanks again!
