Thanks, nikeit! High calcium is rare for me, but I use Tums as a phosphorus binder (full of calcium). Dietitian wants me to take a prescription binder, but want my doctor to weigh in first. Trying to avoid that. I probably just need to cut back on cottage cheese.

Great news! Sounds like you're doing the right things.💛💜💚

Thanks shirfleur 1! Been working closely with my dietitian. Measuring foods means that I can incorporate some "no-no" foods...a little...because I know the amounts of phosphorus/potassium. These include almonds, peanut butter, and potato. I could probably start eating avocado/guacamole, but I don't know if I can practice portion control there. Will test that when I'm more comfortable.

This is the third dietitian I have worked with in 3 1/2 years, and I feel like I have to explain things all over again each time. I'm not diabetic, but my roommate is...and I have no problem making most things diabetic friendly. All three have suggested protein supplements that either were too expensive or sweet (virtually all). This includes protein bars and shakes for renal patients. I would rather eat non-sweet foods. Epic protein bars (high in sodium but perfect otherwise) are the only things I like...prohibitively expensive. The good part is that this new dietitian is really working with me and has good suggestions. I have loved each dietitian and have gotten good recipes.

jcmama777, for weeks now I have seen you have almonds in the morning. I often like easy proteins in the morning and your pics looked so good. It was my dietitian that suggested peanut butter (one of the first things we are told are no-nos) as long as I measured. SOOOOO...I asked her about almonds. SHE SAID YES! I WAS IN HEAVEN this morning. THANK YOU for the idea!! :)

Big cheese smile happening right now!! 🤗🤗🤗🤗😃😃🥰😘 I am so glad you got the ok for them😊😊 especially since you really like them love💜💚 the best part is 28 for one serving and they are so good for you and filling!! It’s rare that I eat a full serving any more. It’s more like 1/2 a serving. Yay Binky love🤗🤗💜💚
