madaboutmoose's Journal, 08 August 2010

It is 7:15 on Sunday morning. I have the windows open and can hear the rain coming down steadily. I'm sipping my first cup of coffee and have already had breakfast. The laundry is sorted, all I need to do is fill up our water tank before I start it. Blue is curled up on the sofa, furiously licking his paw. Bob is still upstairs in bed, I'm trying to be quiet so he can sleep in. He has had a rough week of restless sleep.

I consumed quite a few more calories yesterday but still see another decline on the scale this morning. And, the weird thing is I have simply been ravenous lately!! Despite everything I ate yesterday, when we went to bed I was hungry. And, I wake up hungry, every morning. Usually I exercise, walk the dog, a make the coffee before breakfast. This morning I couldn't wait. I felt icky and thought perhaps I needed to eat. Don't get me wrong. I'm okay with hunger. Spent so much of my life not having a clue what it felt like to be hungry I actually enjoy it to a certain degree. And, I am paying very close attention, and except when I am in bed ... when I am hungry I am listening to my body and feeding it. That was the wisest thing I learned from Dr. McDougall ... feed your body. If you are hungry then your body needs fuel. Feed it.

Movie night review (and we are always behind everyone else!!!) - The Book of Eli with Denzel Washington. Rather dark and dreary to begin with but in the end it was a movie we both enjoyed. Someone here mentioned another Denzel movie they didn't like and commented about his lazy eye distracting her or him. I don't remember who it was. So I kept looking at Denzel's eyes ... couldn't see it ... didn't bother me ... LOL!!! Thought he did a fine job with acting. Though, I have seen a couple of his movies that were real 'turds'!!!

I did get a few items on Ebay yesterday. Took me forever!!! I hope some of this random stuff we have laying about sells. It would be nice to pass it on!!

Yes ... I snapped a picture with my web camera yesterday. I didn't think it really turned out all that well. But I thought maybe you all might be tired of the same old picture, day after day after day after day!!! LOL!!! That is me ala naturale!!! No make-up, hair freshly washed and not combed .... just moose.

I think it might be time to focus on gratefulness ....

1. I am grateful that I can feel hunger!!!

2. I am grateful for the summer rain, cooler temps, and fresh scents!!

3. I am grateful for figuring out how to list something on Ebay!!

4. I am grateful for seeing the blue on my weight loss ticker again!!

5. I am grateful for my health.

Sunday. Another chance to shine!! Another opportunity to practice kindness towards yourself. For many, another day of rest or at least a day away from the office/work. I am looking forward to visiting your journals and seeing what y'all have been up to yesterday!! Have a splendid Sunday, be good to yourselves!!!

Great pic Moose. I have to get a camera so I can change my picture. Sounds like you had a great night. Thanks for the movie review. They are so helpful to me because it seems it takes me forever to pick a movie.lol How nice of you to let hubby sleep in. It's almost 11 here and kids are both still sleeping. I'm glad you got your stuff posted on ebay and hope you get lots of responses. Take care Carol and talk to you soon!

Could something you are eating be triggering the hunger? I have had some days of feeling hungry recently, but can pretty much pinpoint some less healthy foods I consumed (i.e., things made with white flour) as the reason. The longer I go without the white stuff, the less hungry I feel. One small slice of cheese pizza Friday morning and I was hungry all day afterwards! Congrats on being in the blue again! I'm anxiously awaiting mine turning green again, I'm about 8 lbs away from it though. :) Enjoy the rain...wish we had some of it here in Texas. lol

I don't think the hunger is being triggered by what I am eating. I think it is simply a reduction in calories and my body working hard!! Good point though, it could be true. I've been tending to eat protein when I feel hungry which helps. But I'm running out of protein!! LOL!! The other thing that works is something with good fat in it but I am fresh out of avocados and nuts. I've just been really focused this week ... and trying to eat less of protein bars (though they are yummy and work in a pinch they also have that darn high fructose corn syrup in them and tend to make me gassy!!!). Onmyway ... you'll see that green again ... stay the course ... you are worth it!! Cathy - I'm glad the movie review is helpful. Sometimes I feel silly posting my movie thoughts!! One person's 'turd' can be another person's 'jewel'!! LOL!!! I REALLY liked Extraordinary Measures ... it was REALLY good!!! If you don't mind a movie with sick kids and doctors in it!! LOL!!!

You're beautiful Moose, and the new profile picture shows you are the picture of health! Regarding EBAY, I need to inspire my husband to let go of his "Cool Stuff" by utilizing technology. The yard sale was fun for him yesterday as he LOVES to talk with people. This is another reason we have such a collection of "cool stuff", because he and I both enjoy going to Estate Sales, Yard Sales and the Roseville Auction, (My late Mother used to call it the Oakie Picnick lol). We both enjoy our chats with strangers while we cruise around finding treasure. Re: The hunger thingy. Yesterday I had a low day for apetite (unusual). Around 3pm I felt that urgent hunger and enjoyed 1/2 of a Subway $5 sandwhich, while sitting with my family and friends under a shade tree. Well, it occurred to me that one of my favorite things about my life change is that feeling you get when your apetite has been satisfied with just enough. I LOVE THE JUST ENOUGH FEELING! So, now that I am clear on this I am going to pay attention and try to acheive this feeling on a daily basis! Enjoy the rest of this Sunday and hopefully if you have to have rain you will get a glorious rainbow to brighten and color your day. P.S. I hope Bob soon can catch up and regenerate by getting some restful sleep. I have the same situation my my husband. He tosses and turns and is usually very restless with sleep and this is why that vivid dream of his really amused me for he usually doens't remember his dreams. TOWANDA!!

Lisa ... so true about the 'just enough' feeling. Isn't it grand??? When I am hungry I am eating. Just had a juicy peach with some yogurt even though I already ate breakfast. It was 'just enough' and now I can move onto exercising!! LOL!!! Bob slept well last night, straight through which is a rarity for him!! It is cool, overcast, and a quiet day here. Thanks for sharing!!! TOWANDA!!! (love, love, love the parking lot scene from that movie!!)

The same rule applies to exercise, "Just Enough", and you'll know when you have acheived what is necessary to rev up the body engine! I will practice what I am preaching today. One more thing before I go and I will elaborate more about it in my journal this evening. I have noticed once you let go of things, stuff etc. that new things come in:) And with this said, you should see me in my very first "Real Girl" exercise outfit. I will have my daughter take my picture and post it soon. TOWANDA!!!

So glad to hear you are listening to your body and are in such great spirits. :) I can relate so much to liking the feeling of hunger, knowing what it is and eating just enough to satisfy. Our bodies are so amazing and if we take the time to really listen to them it makes such a difference. BRAVO to you!!! :)))

Yes, they really do come true:) In my lighter body vehicle I realized life changing paths are a road worth taking. I know it is a road less travelled so I need to be aware of road hazards but it has been an extremely rewarding and fun adventure. Is there a spell check available in these comment sections? TOWANDA!!

The spell check normally works automatically on my journal. Maybe it is my computer. I don't know. I just finished my Pilates work out and it was hard today. Kicked my Pilates behind royally!! LOL!! Funny how some days are easier than others. Lisa, can't wait to see your 'real girl' exercise attire!! Fun!! Dawn ... it is amazing ... our bodies really do know best we only need to listen!!

LOL Glen ... I like your imagination better than my reality!! I fear no fire ... I REFUSE to build one in August!! And, no blanket ... though it might have been a wise idea this morn!! We ALWAYS have the sweet smell of pine as we are surrounded by pine trees ... 20 acres and more!!

Love to hear about your day! Your life is so different from mine in so many ways.

Thanks Abba ... I know I often marvel at how differently we all live. Some very urban, some of us quite rural, dessert, mountains, ocean ... so interesting!!! Hope you are doing well with being kind to yourself!!
