I was wrong! I felt bloated last night, but that didn't translate to a gain.

Hubby and I were talking about our 8-day trip out west coming up in 26 days. We need to plan how we will eat healthy when we can't control the food prep. I figure the west coast (San Fran to Seattle) is going to have a lot healthier fare than my part of the world (south US).

If anyone is reading this, got any tips for sticking to a low-cal diet away from home? I was debating whether to take measuring cups and my digital food scale. Wouldn't that look tacky in a white-tablecloth restaurant!

Do you have the calorie counter app loaded to a mobile phone. I have it loaded to my android phone. It has nutritional information on most restaurant foods. It even has a barcode scanner to scan in packages of food. since you're traveling across country during the summer, the roadside produce stands could provide you with some healthy snack alternatives.

When we travel like that I take a cooler and only eat one meal a day in a restaurant. I load the cooler with veggies, fruit, yogurt, cottage cheese, low fat cheese sticks, etc. Great suggestion about the roadside stands. Fresh produce is the best. As for eating out eat salads and grilled proteins. Ask for veggies instead of a starch. You SO can do this.
