Music faced. Up 4.4 from Saturday morning's weigh-in. Oddly enough it doesn't feel like it. My rings are still loose on my fingers and although I certainly ate differently I honestly didn't feast the entire time I was away. Most of the time we ate out we shared an entree. But, as we all know, food 'out' has much more sodium in it than food we prepare at home. And I know I didn't drink as much water as I typically drink. It will come back down. All is well.

A few days have passed without conscious pondering of what I am grateful for ... so here goes ...

1. I am grateful for the absence of feeling 'out-of-control' ... the 'ups' and 'downs' of the scale are just that ... fluctuations.

2. For my buddies here missing me. Sometimes it feels very good to be missed.

3. For three days in a row with my best friend ... I really don't ever tire of his company!!

4. For an unexpected rain storm yesterday afternoon and evening. It has been so warm the rain felt wonderful!!!

5. The simple pleasures of everyday life.

I best be attending to the piles on my desk. It is staff meeting day and I have an appointment about an hour's drive away from the office this morning. Already it is Wednesday ... close to another weekend!! So hard to believe we are in the last week of July!! My how time flies!! I continue to practice kindness towards myself, an ongoing process of embracing and accepting what "is" instead of being so possessed and driven by what currently "is not." It is a delicate balance, continually being conscious about the journey and yet being present in the moment. Enjoy today ... be good to yourselves!!!
188.8 lb Lost so far: 70.4 lb.    Still to go: 3.8 lb.    Diet followed reasonably well.

Glad you are back and glad you are feeling well and yes you were missed. You know now that you are back home you will work on those 4lbs so you can party again this weekend. lol I am hoping that I will get to party too. Enjoy your day!

Eating out is the one big issue I still tackle regularly. We like to eat out...often. It's hard because even when I order foods that should be healthy, they load so much sodium on them that I am going to retain water anyway. As you said though, it will come back down! You are very self aware, and therein lies the key to success. Have a great day!

Good job recording but Ouch! Of course, it's just water retention as it would be practially impossible for you to gain 4 plus pounds in three days. The good part is that, after you record it, you will likely be more focused and come out of it better than ever. As you say, it's good to let ourselves go (out of control) with our diets often, especially when we are on maintenance. Have a great day Carol!

we do miss your kind words while you are away! so nice to hear you talk about knowing that it is a flucuation- sometimes we can get all bent out of shape about things. sharing entrees.... i wish i could do that....:) have a great day moose!

The portions are so huge at most restaurants (Cheesecake Factory, anyone?) that you SO did the right thing by sharing. :) Nice to see you back Moose.

I so LOVE reading your journals!! It always makes me smile. I too just realized it's already the end of July. HOLY COW!! Time is going way too fast. But I am enjoying life and like you, trying to appreciate every moment. Sure missed you:)

I am glad your back too!!! I was debating about contacting fat secret to see if they had a search and rescue team.....whew....you returned in time!!! :) A couple days with your best friend?!?!? That's so worth 4 pounds....that's why you didn't notice it much.....the joy was heavier than the weight gain! I give you such applause for facing that scale!!! I am having my "bad" day Friday.....a party for my mothers 70th birthday. I know there is going to be booze and lots of food. Facing the scale ANYTIME over the rest of the weekend......ummmm don't see it happening!!! :( I'll just have to try my best to behave! I'm so happy your back.....and had a nice couple days!!!!
