Day 4 of a planned 6 days of ‘no solid food’ fasting

Still no explanation for losing 10 pounds in 5 days🤔.

I only had an opportunity to do one 5 mile run this week. Otherwise the only thing I did was ‘no solid food fast’ for 4 days. This still delivers over 1000 calories a day, but it keeps my carbs around 20 carbs a day and my protein around 60 grams a day (this is really important to me because ‘excess protein’ causes more fat producing insulin in me).

I dropped so much weight so fast over the past few days that it seems as if my 20 pound gain was just ‘water weight’. But, it only takes 2-3 pounds of ‘actual fat added’ for me to slowly become ‘obese’ again. Three weeks ago I was 165lbs (my BMI weight), and I am still 5 pounds over that. Until a year ago, I have been obese all-my-adult-life, and this is something I never want to return to.

The plan is to continue ‘no solid food fasting’ at least 5 days a week and to get in cardio 🏃🏾.

My goal weight is 160lbs and even with this good loss I have had recently, I still think it will take 3-4 weeks…

😎 Life is Good! Have a great day everyone!

Wow you’re dropping that weight like crazy! Have you posted a before after pic? For some reason I just can’t imagine you as obese!

No explanation? Water weight fluctuations are large and go in both directions when you have extra food, carbs, and sodium. Boxers can drop and then regain 20+ pounds in 24 hours.

@mrsroboto - Thanks! I plan to post a "before and after pic" when I finally get down to 160lbs (10 pounds from now). I *took a picture* recently and looked at it... and while my muscles look bigger, I have 'bulging fat' around my gut 🥺. For me, it is --truely-- the last place on my body to hang onto the fat haha! I always thought that "BMI Weight" was a sham until I finally hit it. I now see I *still* have plenty of fat even when I am at BMI weight. I would not worry about the 'extra fat' if I wasn't 50 years old. But, at 50+ my muscles won't build like those guys 20 years younger than me and my body simply won't look tight like those guys 30 years younger than me. Low fat and lean is my best option I think :)

@Diablo360x - Thanks. Let's see what happens over the next few weeks :) I 'could' end up 'bouncing up and down' in the low 170s. That would effectively raise my running average about 3-4 pounds. not the end of the world, but, my goal is 160 and that would have me moving in the 'wrong direction' Haha!

@mrsroboto - Wanna see me 'obese' see: https://www.fatsecret.com/Default.aspx?pa=memnd&id=104483257

Wow! Perhaps, your diet break was a good thing. 😀🤔

@Keilin_4 - Yes! The 'diet break' was beneficial :) Also, "carbing up" and "lifting heavy" for a week has definitely made my body 'look better' so I understand why the 'weight lifters' swear by it. If I thought I would not 'get out of control' and 'become obese again' I would give it a try. But, at 5'8" I only need to hit 197lbs to be 'Obese' again. I was only 14 pounds from that after only 10 days, so I had to 'tap out' run back to Keto haha!

To be obese again according to chart ? Or according to you looking obese?

Nice - very thorough plan and so far - good results.

Vacation must have had a hand in your drop. 👍

@rosio19 - "Obese" according to the standard BMI chart. However, you can see in the 4/24/2018 picture posted here: https://www.fatsecret.com/Default.aspx?pa=memnd&id=104483257 I was 203 pounds. That picture shows a very fat 49 year old guy who was pre-diabetic (at times I could not feel my feet). The 5/20/2018 picture had me at 191 pounds (merely 'overweight'), but I was still a 'fat' guy with rolls of fat all over my body. I just hit 183 pounds last week! A mere 8 pounds from the fat guy in the 5/20/2018 picture.

@tahoebrun, @Becc@ - Thanks :) I think another thing that may have helped was that I hit the weights really hard 5 out of the 10 days. I lifted the heaviest weight, and for more reps, ever in my life.

So I bounce 3-4 pounds pretty regularly. I am close to “goal”,”normal “ weight. Lean muscle really defines it.

Just curious .... why no solid food🤷‍♀️. I think that a calorie is a calorie, solid or liquid.

It seems that your back where you were before you started eating on Vacation. Probably just fluctuating water weight with no fat or muscle gained? What goes on fast comes off fast. It’s the slow gains that are more worrisome.

Please be safe.. Us 20+30 year old on weight journeys need to make sure we are not putting stress on our hearts. I am sure you have researched fasting long periods and the effects on your body especially if you are exercising at high impacted. I think everyone's goal at the end is to feel good in our skin and live a healthy life... So glad you are posting, sharing. I fast often, eat under my set calories as I am not hungry, exercise often. I worry about my metabolism and maintenance once I hit my goal, I am not getting any younger. Each time I attempt the journey of the healthy lifestyle it's harder each time to lose. This time I have health issues pushing me, I feel amazing this time as I am doing it the right way. I still struggle to find food I enjoy. I am 1 1/2 months in, I am still fumbling around. 22lbs down, 65 lbs more per BMI chart but 55 lbs were I think I don't look too skinny. I wish you the best. I look forward to your posts.

@Gail531 - I do 'no solid food' only because it seems to prevent me from 'binging' and going off the diet. Kinda like an alcoholic not drinking.

@ccrai22 - I think we have to be careful about our 'expectations' :) Your weight loss so far is massive! I would say that everything is perfect for you right now :)

@love2educate - I dropped another 2 pounds today, so I am going to look at the numbers to try to figure out what I think is happening...
