Day 2 of a planned 2 days of eating

My goal was to keep my weight gain to less than 5 pounds over the next two days of eating.

Didn’t do it 😒

Went to a BBQ yesterday and had a great time, ate like crazy (this was planned), but gained 4 pounds. Yes it is ‘mostly water’ but, when my body takes in so many excess calories the extra carbs have-to-go-somewhere.

There isn’t some ‘magical’ storage place where my body puts this stuff so that all I have to do it ‘balance out the calories expended vs. the excess calories I consumed’.

No, the excess carbs will be turned into FAT. That would not be so bad, except the fat is slow to go away… unless… I fast and 🏃🏾‍♂️ run 😊

Today I am 'mentally' not up to fasting, but, I will hit the 🏋🏾‍♂️ gym and I will do a 🏃🏾‍♂️ 10 mile run. However, experience has shown me that after a multi-day-excess, I always have 2-3 pounds that ‘stays for a week’. No problem. Simply no more ‘excesses’ for the next week and a half before my vacation. I plan to fast and run during the week, and eat low carb next weekend.

Last year, from May 7 to May 12, I gained 7 pounds and I was actually 'trying' (but failing) to eat low carb most of that time.

So, for **me** carbs *are* bad. I simply do not listen to people who say otherwise. Carbs are not bad for them, this is true. But, I would be a --stupid idiot-- to gain 6 pounds in two days and think “Oh the carbs don’t make a difference”.

I don’t ‘bow’ to ‘peer pressure’, and I make liberal use of the “delete” button next to any comments I don’t like on my Fat Secret journal 😊

Now, when I go on vacation I plan to ‘let go’ and have ‘excesses’ for a week! I can see from these past two days that I-will-gain-weight-fast. Yes, I will allow myself more carbs (I'm on vacation!), but 250+ carbs days are not going to work (sigh).

So, these past two days were a good 'wake up' call! I can 'let go' a 'little', but, if I try to do a 'blow out' for a solid week, I could pack on 15+ pounds...

😎 Life is Good! Have a great day everyone!

Have a good day at the gym and running. Sounds like a good plan. You are working it. There is no magic just "working it" I think.

Did you run or lift (the same day) while eating the excessive Carbs?

I may not outlive the delete button but I promise my intention isn't negative. Do you lump all carbs together or are you referring to processed foods? The farmers markets are opening up again and as my woe is keto I'm still trying to wrap my head around it. My friend yoga claims since loosening get keto reigns she's gaining. But I'm not panicking because I know she doesn't measure or ensure an overall deficit.

Have a great day! Behave next week and you will be fine, you can be so disciplined when you want, I know that.👌😎 Just remember that you will have one week of vacation and the year has too many weeks left to be good with your diet.

I'm like FullaBella (at least what I think she is saying). I don't feel bad when I eat carbs in plants - raspberries, peas, carrots, etc. But I know the processed food is what hurts me. I try to limit it, and when I do, I lose weight. I gain weight when I give in and eat mostly processed foods.

@FullaBella, @Fritzy 22 - When I say 'carbs' I am talking about the 'processed foods' not plants like raspberries, peas, carrots. Those would probably be fine. I am sure I would not gain weight like this if I sat around eating Apples all day :)

@srossca - I did not workout or run yesterday. Two weeks ago, I was able to keep my gains low by eating and then working out. But, eating and not working out packs-on-the-pounds Haha!

Carbs are carbs. I doubt the body knows the difference. However, it would matter what you eat with your carbs

@liv001 - I'm not sure my body breaks down the carbs at the same speed and "assigns them" the same way. The Apple has fructose but the carbs I was consuming was high-fructose that you know contains substantial amount of glucose. I suspect that the glucose more rapidly turns to glycogen, requiring the water to bind it and that leads to the rapid water weight gain. I suspect the Apple, with just the fructose, would *eventually* be processed and end up as glycogen, but at 20 net carbs (minis the fiber) per Apple, I would have to pound down 15 Apples to hit the 300 carbs I easily consumed in half a day at the BBQ. I think the people eating the Apples and other fruit will constantly have better results than the people eating pizza?

Carbs=Alcohol to me, so I could not agree more. Don't like hang overs. Leave that poison to rare social occations, where it's just too odd to not join.
