Debbie Cousins's Journal, 14 April 2019

I have been reducing my RDI for calories by 25 calories each week for the past six weeks. That put me at 1,550 now. I went ahead and moved it back up to 1,600, where I'll stay until I've lost all of my weight. I don't want to lose TOO quickly, because I'm getting so wrinkly so fast, because of my age - don't you young people worry about getting wrinkly - your skin has more elasticity than skin that has been stretched out by fat for 35 years! Funny thing, I was a lot more aware of the fat in other places on my body than on my face, but I can really see the loss there now! The most surprising thing though, has been the loss in my legs! I'm beginning (just BEGINNING) to like the way they look. Whenever I see sagging skin, I just need to remember that it is a GOOD thing, because it is only sagging since it isn't filled up with disgusting, fat blubber! This is 20 pounds of fat - the same amount of weight I have lost since January 1. EWWWE, GROSS!
173.1 lb Lost so far: 85.9 lb.    Still to go: 23.1 lb.    Diet followed 100%.

That's a good attitude. I think that I'll have quite a lot of saggy skin, I put on weight following an ABI which left me bedridden for a while, lost it all then put it back on following another medical problem four years later. Ten years of blowing up and deflating like a balloon is going to have a detrimental effect on skin elasticity but I don't care, losing the fat is way more important.

I try to come to terms with the changes I see in my face and neck by consciously thinking about my grandmother and a fine older friend who were/are thin but whose faces are so beautiful to me.

Awesome Debbie!!! Strength training and cardio help get the sogginess under control. Also lots of moisturizer ie: a combo of coconut and hemp oil to help the elasticity. Bat wings that's hard. Someone I used to know called them "Gramma Wings" I like that better. Lots of tri-ceps strength training to firm up the muscles underneath. My doc says often it is inherited and impossible to totally get rid of them. Neck stretching and strengthening exercises can help the saggy neck skin. Am 69 and with all the neck exercises I've had to do with my cervical disc issues it's helping the neck saggies.

I'm right there with you gals. Since I am older than all of you, weight loss plus age has caused loose skin all over my body. But yes, the face is very noticeable. I've been hoping that the autophagy of Intermittent Fasting might help, but I don't think I can fast enough to get sufficient results. Exercising enough to have it affect the skin is a problem for me. Even so, I prefer being trim, rather than have fat on my body filling out the wrinkles. Thank you all for sharing. It makes me feel I am not alone in this. You are surely my sisters in heart.
