Here we go again with another episode of "listen to the lucky, skinny guy whine".

Anyone wanna call dibs on a high-speed metabolism before I post it on eBay?

Everyone envies a fast metabolism because I can eat like a teenager at 42 and not gain weight. I know, I know: "cry me a river, jerk."

But, the fact is that I'm trying to put on weight here. I've gone up 5lbs solid in this last month, so not bad (10lbs since early February). Barely any fat noticeable at a sustained caloric diet of ~3400 (average daily).

Oh no! I just realized I'm beginning to get focused on the scale!! I'm seeing the gains and wooshes and it just started frustrating me today for some reason 🤔.

Just a bit of insight: if you think weight loss is a slow process, adding muscle mass is astronomically slower. Talk about a patience-check...

Deep breaths... in... out... in... out...

Okay, I think I'm better now. Thanks for letting me vent, Doc.

** I just noticed that I weigh over 150lbs without looking skinny or fat - that is a HUGE accomplishment for me! **

My husband burns like crazy so I understand your frustration. He is nearly 6" but I struggle to keep his weight above 140 .

Yea, yea, cry me a river, LOL. KIDDING!! I totally get it. While I'd like you to ship me a vile of your DNA I understand your challenges. Never experienced them, but understand them. You know what you want and you're taking the steps to achieve it. I DO get a little confused because you reference a past of keto, etc., and if not for losing weight what was that agenda?

From what I've read, Chris, 5lbs per month muscle gain is actually above average.

I've read that it's normally maxes at 1lb per week.

we all have our own struggles that are different but one thing we all share is needing to take a deep breath, never quit, and trust the process....breath

We love listening to you whine, darling, don't you ever think otherwise! We are all here for the same things...improve our health and get happy with our bodies!

Fun to read, relatable. Only quick fix of muscle volume I know of, is loading with carbs to fill the muscles with water. Trick used for looking good on photos. Otherwise, frequent loading of proteins during a day, plus straining the muscles is where the building part lay. Even the Diabetes Guru Dr Bernstein go with 'more protein' for weight gain.

I wish I had your problem. 👌 well, actually I don't know how to gain muscle, but I gain fat easily.

"Gaining muscle is way easier mate, just up the cardio, you'll be 10x bigger in a couple weeks!"

Look at Doug McGuff online-or You Tube. He's a doc who specializes in Weight lifting. Writes a book and lectures. He can tell you about Fast Twitch Slow Twitch and what you can expect from your inherited metabolism. (And yes it/s Mc Guff no r).

Oh no no. I am not buying a fast metabolism. I saw how they do that on "Why are We so Fat?" on Netflix. 🤢💩

I remind myself that being overweight is hard, loosing weight is hard and maintaining weight is hard. Then tell myself "choose your hard". For you Chrisw77 I shall add gaining muscle is hard.

Yeah, I don't think you have a high metabolism you just are active and trying to gain. Hard workouts that are steadily burning more and more calories as you gain muscle and get stronger since you're pushing more weight. Heavy workouts plus a higher than average NEAT means you have to EAT.
