Funny - yesterday the scale was 207# and then this morning 205.8 - I will take it. I know the process works. As I have said many times.....this is a lifestyle and as long as I am making the right choices/doing the right things then eventually it will respond in a positive way.

I know I had 'thought' I would not eat dinner, but I made Keto Brccoli Cheese Soup and it was mmm mmm good. Even the picky husband liked it. So had the soup and then went to the FD for maintenance night. Worked for three hours there, and got in 2.5 mile run. So yesterday was a productive day, for sure.

This morning DH BS, after coffee on the half dosage of metformin, was 105...very good signs. This week he has learned why I am so funny about eating out. Unless it is something like a steak or a burger or eggs I would rather cook it myself because you do not know what people put in their foods. He met me the other night and we ate at Hong Kong Buffet...the sauces (as most of you know) and his BS was in the 160's...not horrible but he was disappointed. Also, yesterday he stopped for a coffee and asked for sugar free hazelnut. Came home and his BS was in the 160's so pretty sure the barista failed to use sugar free. The coffee I make him (with sugar free hazel nut) does not effect his BS in that manner. So lessons he is learning, but that isn't bad.

I hope all you FS warriors are doing well. Remember to treat yourselves kindly!

Great about the scale and you DH catching on. Keto Cheese soup sounds about right. I have those mishaps happen at coffee chops quite often. It is so annoying as sugar takes me out of ketosis but it is even worse that they may do that to someone who are diabetic.

I'm just that cautious (insert suspicious) of others preparing my meals esp with the sauces and coffees. I got a Smoothie King one day and it was so sweet I expected my BS to be through the roof. It wasn't so they must have used artificial sweetener and I'm just not used to it so while I drank it I didn't enjoy it. It's almost as if I want to say 'if you use sugar I'll die, I tell ya, I'll DIE' just to emphasize the importance. I've made that Keto broccoli soup - it's really good.

Liv - so true! It happens and I try to watch like a hawk. Bella - Yes, and once you have cut the sugars out for so long things taste super sweet! I did tell DH that when he places his order he needs to stress to them 'I am a diabetic so MAKE SURE it is sugar free'. He said it was a drive up place that he goes and he couldn't see her. You are right though; depending on the person and their condition a mishap like that could have a very bad impact. It could be kind of scary when you think about it like that.

Yeah, you know, I was being facetious with the 'I'll die, I tell ya' because I remember that from some comedy skit. but you're right - for a severe diabetic with complications it could be fatal esp going into reaction behind the wheel of a car. If mine were that bad I'd have to park the car, walk inside, watch them like an eagle then dress it up on my own. Yes, I have trust issues.

Now that you mention that skit I can hear the voice in my head...lol. Thankfully, he isn't that bad but I do know some that are (or were). He did say that the couple days with it dropping so low it really scared him and I think it scared him enough to see how important it is in either direction. It was good that he got to see how much a difference a coffee without sugar free could make on the BS. Now that he is checking he is having a lot of realization slapping him in the face. He commented that he was a little OCD now and told his sister that it had freaked him out. It's good for him...he needed a come to Jesus moment (or several!).

Well if you think of the skit tell me please.. it's stuck in my head and I'm mentally flipping through movies I've seen to remember. I recall she was explaining this to a waiter and her dining companion mimicked her 'you heard her, she'll die'. Gah. The things I waste my mind on.

I am also very careful with "unknown" food sources when eating out simply due to the sneaky way glucose (in all its forms) turns up in foods. I just got back from a 10 day vacation including a 7 cruise - eating very well but paid attention - morning BGL stayed between 85 - 96. I was really happy with the results. I little planning and judicious caution - food is no longer a threat.

You are doing great. I go up and down even when I've done everything perfectly. Keto is a great lifestyle. I can't eat out either. Especially Chinese. I'll probably never eat Chinese again unless I am ready to throw myself out of ketosis. Keep going! Your almost under 200! 👍🎉

@Bella - I know! I have racked my brain and can here the guy in my head!!!! LOL! @Tahoebrun - that is GREAT!!!! What wonderful results with being on vacation and having no control of the food sources. You are right; planning and caution plays a big role. @Alnona - thank you! @Jenjabba - DH LOVES Chinese...his go to was always Thai fried rice with chicken, beef and shrimp and sometimes he would order Lo Mein, too. Then of course he would eat it for lunch the next day (the person that doesn't eat leftovers will eat this leftover). He said if he is ever going to have a 'cheat' meal it will be 'good food'. I think right now he will not even consider this meal because then he will have to see what it does to his BS. I did cauli-fried rice a couple years ago and will maybe try that one again on him (in another month). It will be so great to be under 200 again! I can see it peeking at me around the corner! :)
