Day 1 of a planned 2 days of eating!
Blood sugar 87 mg/dL

I just realized I DID lose weight over the previous years on FatSecret.com:

💥 232 pounds in December 2010 to 210 pounds in December 2017 = 22 pounds (3.1 pounds a year).

I then started ‘no solid food fasting’ and went from:

💥 210 pounds in March 2018 to 163 pounds in August 2018 = 47 pounds (9.4 pounds a month/2.3 pounds a week)

So, my problem apparently is I-have-no-patience!

2 pounds is about as fast as my body can lose ‘actual fat’ per week (3,500 calories to lose a pound). When you lose 40 pounds over 'months', we are now dealing in ‘actual fat’ rather than the usual ‘water weight’.

The thing about Fat Secret, is when viewing *your profile* in the web browser, you can click on your “Calendar” then click on “View Diet Calendar Overview”

When I look at 4 months “fully inside” that period I see:

Daily Average:

April 2018: 551kcal (Fat: 25.63g, Protein: 23.44g, Carbs: 60.27g)
May 2018: 551kcal (Fat: 25.63g, Protein: 23.44g, Carbs: 60.27g)
June 2018: 585kcal (Fat: 28.99g, Protein: 33.04g, Carbs: 46.91g)
July 2018: 797kcal (Fat: 50.53g, Protein: 59.97g, Carbs: 28.35g)

This tells me that *this is what it takes for me to lose weight fast*

Since then my numbers look like this:

Daily Average:

August: 1446kcal (Fat: 73.07g, Protein: 127.94g, Carbs: 64.82g)
September: 1406kcal (Fat: 76.46g, Protein: 121.36g, Carbs: 48.38g)
October: 1454kcal (Fat: 75.18g, Protein: 130.73g, Carbs: 58.22g)
November: 1658kcal (Fat: 76.17g, Protein: 150.47g, Carbs: 84.83g)
December: 1658kcal (Fat: 76.17g, Protein: 150.47g, Carbs: 84.83g)

Oh and let’s see, I did:

💥 172 pounds in September 2018 to 172 pounds in December 2019 = 0 pounds

So, now I know my ‘weight maintenance’

Too bad I was actually ‘trying to lose weight’ Haha!

Notes:
It looks like the calories make the difference, but, when I ‘carb up’ I gain weight no matter what the calories are. Also, my high protein, in recent months, needs to be added to my carbs because my body will burn high protein like carbs. I take in more than the recommended 20 carbs a day on average, but I usually gain weight on the days I go above 40 carbs. Also I work out with weights and run a lot.

Yesterday, I did go to the 🏋🏾 gym and 🏃🏾 run! My lifting strength was actually just fine this time. I think the Frosted Flakes I ate the night before helped 😊

For the next two days @PrincessValerie and I are 🚗 Travelling and 🍕 Eating.

Diet re-starts on Tuesday.

@Anaserk has inspired me to try another ‘water fast’ (for me this is black coffee and decaf green tea only, no protein drinks or heavy cream). While my motivation will be for ‘spiritual cleansing’, it shouldn’t hurt the diet…

😎 Life is Good! Have a great day everyone!

I know that, I can do a day of fasting and lose weight but and the end of the week my daily average is always 1700 , my weight loss from fasting will not count.

For me the daily average is what matters.

@Keilin_4 - For me the daily average allow me to set 'outside boundaries' or 'goals', but, when I do '3 day running averages' (looking at 3 days at a time), I see that I lose weight below 40 carbs and gain weight above 200 carbs. This gets lost in the 'averages', but, it cannot be ignored.

Nice analysis! I should break out the laptop and work this out too but I don’t think it will be accurate right now. I spent so many months not caring about what i ate (not even logging) and let myself gain weight. I need to continue to log consistently and then see where I’m at after a few more weeks.

@CrashtestDawnie - The good news is that you do know what works for you (what you're doing now). I think 'crunching the numbers" (when you can get a few weeks of fully logging) will allow you to see "what doesn't work" :) This has allowed me to see that my "Protein Shakes in Heavy Cream" is NOT helping me lose weight. Great for 'maintenance' (good to know!) But, I-cannot-drop-pounds taking in this much protein. My body is burning the protein like carbs. It "looks" like it is the extra calories, but, it-is-impossible for me to consume 1400 calories without high carbs or protein. There are others that can do it, but, I simply cannot eat 1000 calories of 'only steak'. Anyway, gotta cut down on the protein shakes, that's what I get from my numbers...

I keep trying to look at my numbers but I'm not seeing a super clear pattern...gotta do the same things for longer to see it I guess lol I'm just not patient enough. I'm so close but just don't seem to be able to push it as fast as I want to and so I keep changing things around. I have consistantly stayed with the high protein and that seems to be working so we'll see. Nutritionist actually said to up the calories a little bit and that might help lol. Welp back to the drawing board I guess!

Yes, it does look like you know exactly what works. I know that I won't lose weight if I eat bread, cereal, potatoes, popcorn, or ANY type of starch. If I eat just protein and veggies, I will lose weight, however, VERY SLOWLY, as at the age of 78-3/4 I no longer have a metabolism.

I just found a recipe for Keto bread which I think I'd like to try because meals are very boring without bread.

@katies71 - Lets just say what you are doing now is working really well. Most days your carbs are under 100. Just keep doing that? That's what it looks like to me :)
