35 pushups 2019 PUSH UP Challenge!

2019 PUSH UP Challenge (Overall leaderboard)

Yeah the "eating steak all day" experiment didn't work :( I had a steak before noon and went to the gym a few hours later. However, I still had protein drinks during the day and those do have some carbs.

By dinner time, the thought of just having another steak was not appetizing to me. I needed some carbs. I decided to have steak with scrambled eggs and cheese. This is still low carb, but, this made me want more carbs.

I had another protein shake, but, I now really wanted carbs. I ate a Quest low carb protein cookie, but those things always seem to cause a weight gain with me. Plus, I was way above 1500 calories and I can only lose weight at that level if I lift weights AND run 5-7 miles.

Anyway, today I will eat whatever I want, but lift weights and run. Hopefully, I wont gain too much. Back on the "no solid food" fast on Monday :)

😎 Life is Good! Have a great day everyone!

Hi adef, not sure why you were doing this - weight loss or protein for bulking up? If you are wanting weight losses, try this: All day, have only water and coffee w/ cream or other preferred fats; skip breakfast, lunch and all snacks; then have your steak with non-starch veggies. You will likely see a nice drop - I typically get 1.5 to 2 lbs loss, and it "sticks", isn't just a one day water weight loss.

Sorry to hear the steak didn't get you the results you wanted. Well, you at least enjoyed the steak, right? 😊 Hope the rest of your weekend is an enjoyable one.

@Becc@ - The steak was great. The hard part for me is that I can-only-eat-so-much-steak. My body just rejects it at a certain point unless I consume carbs. Take Care!

@gz9gjg - Thanks for the tip. I spend most of the week with a restrictive diet that works. However, on the weekends I need to 'let go' and let myself eat. I was trying to find a way to do that without the usual weigh gain. Skipping breakfast and lunch on the weekends would be too restrictive for me :)

if you are full that is all that matters when you eat meat and fat. you get hungry later you just eat another meal. the carb thing is always going to be a challenge. I find if I have too much protein and not enough fat I can start to crave carbs. so you are not alone in that one. cheese also sets off cravings. you learn these triggers as you test food. one reason I suggested the butter on the steak, it helps up the fat level to satisfy you more and you will eat less of the protein. and yes your protein shakes at the same time or should I say day may also cause that same result of bumping up your protein too high for the activity and set off cravings. It is all about balance. enjoy your eat what you want day!

Sorry about the steak day not working out - another experiment in the books and you learned something so that's good - I love steak but don't think I could just eat that all day. WTG on 35 push ups!!!! Can't wait to see how you progress with those. Have a great Sunday!!

@Baskington - I agree with you on the fat. I did not have enough. Yeah I had fat in the heavy cream, but then that came with the carbs and sugar from the protein drinks. You suggested just the butter that would have avoided that (however, I DID do the butter on the steak too!). I think that 90% of people would actually do well with a "Steak Day". While yes there were 'physical cravings' for carbs, they were not so overpowering that I could not of 'held off'. Basically, I just felt a 'twinge' of desire and gave in because 'mentally' I *must* have a few days a week were I 'take it easy' :)

@Draglist - Yeah my body signaled to my brain what it wanted and because the weekends are my 'mental break' time I just gave in :)

@nikeit - Thanks! The most pushups I 'think' I could do today, without stopping, is 40. My hope is that in 5 days my strength will increase. Otherwise, I will have to 'hold' at 40 pushups for awhile :) :)

nothing wrong with that either Adef, I have been debating it a lot lately myself!

But eventually you will need to fuel your workouts more and it is nice to know you can eat meat with a lot of fat and not go off on a carb binge. you may find other items to add to your meal like broccoli with lots of butter, some veggies do not induce cravings.
