Day 1 of a planned 5 day ‘no solid food’ fast
Blood sugar 87 mg/dL

🌊 I drank a LOT of water yesterday :)

However, it is not surprising that the pounds only showed up when I consumed over 100 carbs. My 'maintenance' calories is about 1500 and in the past three days I have gone WAY over that 📈.

I have been working out and 🏃🏾 running everyday, but, I do that most days anyway. The 'extra calories' have to go 'somewhere', and I believe that while I did not gain 2lbs of 'fat', I did gain perhaps 0.2lbs of fat over the past three days. Keep this up day after day, and while my weight gain will be 'mostly water', there will be actual fat being added to my body.

👍🏾 My #1 goal is to not be fat.

This is more important than 🏋🏾 body building. For 'body building' I must add 'bulk'. However, I want to 'cut' down to 164lbs before bulking. 164lbs is my normal BMI weight, and while the number is 'flawed' it truly is the weight that my excess visible body fat disappears at (I am 163lbs in my profile picture).

🧘🏾‍♂️ So, I am blessed to have my 'no solid food fasts' that, in the past, have allowed me to always drop 3-6 pounds over 5 days. Yes, most of that will be 'water weight', but some of it will be actual fat.

😎 Life is Good! Have a great day everyone!

the nice thing is with your weight work and your running you more than run off that .2 amount of fat. I am trying to fast today as long as I can to avoid my bloat that normally comes after my cheese. cheating a little Ha! coffee and heavy cream twice. it helps me not be starving

@baskington - To be honest, I think that the 'period without food' like you plan to do today, is what is the most beneficial. I just 'mentally' need to 'consume a little something' every few hours, so that is why I have my protein shakes. But, I don't NEED them.

I know the fast is good for me, it is just the damage I did with the fasting before. I sometimes still struggle to eat enough. I am not eating anything until I have to and then it will be a nice juicy steak!

I'm smelling food in the office but I will stay strong. I have fat on my body and I will survive and so will you.

oh yes, I still have plenty of extra fat to burn. regardless of being within a couple pounds of my high school weight.

Good job on your planning what you need to do - you will get to that 'normal' BMI in no time!

you know what?? maybe you should get one of those fancy scales that give you a break down of fat and muscle like some of the folks do here. personally the programing would probably make me crazy but you like that kind of thing. they are not totally accurate as they can only read so high into the body, but it is a new tool.

@baskington - Oh I DO have one of those fancy scales! Does a good job of recording my actual weight, but it says my body fat is anywhere from 15%-5%! Basically how much water I have in my at the time makes the difference. From the mirror I estimate 15% body fat. I feel I need to be at 10% body fat to finally see my abs :)

@nikeit - The is a good chance that my Saturday morning I could hit 164lbs :) My Wednesday morning weight will be the key. If I am 168lbs or lower I can do it. I usually lose 1-2 pounds a day the last days of my 'no solid food' fasts.

Well, good luck on Wednesday then! I bet you make it with flying colors!

Oh I tried one of those electronic thingys that measure you body fat % (which was 29.1) and your BMI and it said my BMI was currently 25.3 BUT someone that is 5’1 with a BMI of 25.3 should weight 137 pounds. I do not weight anywhere near that. So yeah, just keep using your mirror to decide what is right for you.

@CrashtestDawnie - Why are your gifs not working :) :)
