Hot and humid here, and as soon as I got home I changed into my running shorts and got a mile in. I HURT. my hip has been screaming all day. But I gotta keep it going. Plus told myself I could leave the a/c on while I wait for the kids after school: guilty indulgences come in non food form too. I sprayed glitter perfume on my legs and grabbed an apple. No weights today, my 15 minutes of cardio was just right. And, I’m glad I went. Now I’m going to take the middle son to therapy before his bio mom gets him back. To my surprise, his grades are excellent this week. Maybe we’re finally getting through to him! I’m looking forward to actually congratulating him today, rather than discussing the missing or bad work. We have court coming up end of next month, so he can ask the courts permission to stay with us every school day and every other weekend. It’s a good idea, but it’s really his decision. I of course want him all the time, but I’m also going to support him continuing to have a relationship with his bio mom. She does need to get off the drugs, that’s for sure.
And until then he should be allowed to go every other weekend, like he wants. Not every other week, like the way they granted custody to her when she had never had him and she didn’t just showed up when he was 10 and got 50/50. A methadone addict bartender is not better than a heroin addict stripper, but according to our court she is a fit parent (with no experience?!!!)

Well, whatever. Can’t choose your family, and my baby has my full attention 24/7 whether he’s with me or her. All I can do is support him. So, that’s why I started taking him to a therapist. This kids had a hard life, for sure. Anyway, it’s always difficult saying good bye to him for a week. I worry, and it’s hard. Old me would have been all about that beer, pizza, ice cream as I zoned into the tv. Not me. Not anymore. I went for my run, now therapy, and I’m going to have a color session with my youngest tonight before salad then bath time... then early to bed (7!) mmmm bed.....
