Day 4 of a planned 11 day 'no solid food fast'

Blood sugar 83 mg/dL

👶🏾 I was hoping for a loss today. However, I have still lost 3 pounds in 3 days.

Do I plan to change anything? No, of course not.

🌟 I had been obese all my adult life. I tried to lose weight for decades. I felt like a failure for decades. After reading: "The Obesity Code: Unlocking the Secrets of Weight Loss" (https://amzn.to/2sAbluO) I stopped trying the 'eat less move more' conventional wisdom and found a diet I can stick to.

I started 'fasting' periodically on 3/25/2018 and that has been the diet plan I have stuck with.

🌎 Mostly I realize that many (NOT all!) people that will offer you 'advice' don't care about you. They are motivated by protecting their own 'Ego' (defined as a person's 'sense' of themselves in the world). If they believe that what they are doing is 'correct', it becomes important, to bolster their 'Ego' that everyone around them do the same.

🧘🏾‍♂️ This is why I try (and fail many times) to ONLY offer my 'experince'. Yes, I would love for all long-time 'diet failures' like myself to 'fast', get big results, and validate 'my' view of the world. But, if they can't do it, and feel like a 'failure', how am I helping them? I'm not.

👍🏾 Anyway, yesterday I stuck to my plan (8 net carbs, period. Nothing else matters for me), felt great thoughout the entire day (electrolyte supplements!) hit the gym (still able to do all my lifts from my 'bulking period'), and will now go on a 5 mile run before work.

Most importantly, when my co-worker brought 🍰 lemon cakes to the morning meeting yesterday, I smiled at her, politely declined, and told her I was on day 3 of an 11 day 'no solid food' fast. I did not even have a 'nibble'.

Have a great day everyone!

@keilin-4 - My co-worker is a good friend of mine who 'can cook!' . She uncovered the little lemon cakes and the smell of lemon filled the room. However, she just patted me on the shoulder and said she 'totally understands why I can't have any'. That is the reason fasting is the only thing that works for me. I would have felt so hungry by lunch time I would have gone to Mc Donald's for a 1200 calorie 'lunch' and later in the day to the vending machine for a few bags of Cheetos (330 calories - 30 carbs a bag!). I just can't control my desire once my blood sugar spikes. People who don't have that problem are so lucky :)

I understand, actually when I start my day with cakes I want to eat more and more cakes, 16/8 works perfectly for me

Are you muscle bulking? That normally adds weight to the body, I.e. you body requires extra calories in vs. calories burned.

Your take on "advice" is awesome. I try to keep that in the back of my mind when I'm commenting on their journey. I need to preface my remarks with what you just said: This works for me, maybe it will work for you." When we have been obese for a life time it is natural when something works to want everyone in on the secret! Definitely our bruised egos long for affirmation. But their may be better ways to get it, like knowing and giving ourselves credit for what we have accomplished that has nothing to do with others opinions of us.👍

I love that you found what works for you, and you unapologetically stick to it. I appreciate that you offer up your help and experience, but respect what someone else may be doing, and you encourage them. Keep it up!! You're doing great!

I weight once a week for me is super frustrating doing it daily because is not accurate due to water retention and other aspects of our body. I'm in day 4 of the 16:8 experiment. Also a caliper helps me determine muscle and fat changes. good luck for all of us.

I agree with so much of this and comments. 'All diets work' but not all work for all people. I'm glad you found what works for you.

Wow - 11 days - color me impressed - I couldn't do that to save my soul - and I certainly don't think you are pushing at anyone to do what you do! I agree what you said about wanting others to do what you do to make yourself feel good. Awesome job not even taking a nibble!!!! I don't think I could EVER pass up lemon anything :)

awesome post! I want to shout to the world how eliminating carbs (and most dairy) has changed my life, I may not be losing, but for people like us, we need to pass our experiences on. have an awesome weekend
