Day 3 of a planned 5 day 'no solid food fast'

Blood sugar 87 mg/dL

👍 Another day of a 2 pound loss 😀. It 'appears' that consuming large amounts of "Quest Vanilla Milkshake Protein Powder", heavy cream, and Splenda does not slow my weight loss...

🚗 On my 1 hour drive to work yesterday I felt 'lethargic'. As a test, rather than have more coffee once I got to work, I decided to take a hit of "Hi-Lyte Electrolyte Concentrate". Sure enough in 3 minutes I felt fine. When fasting, electrolyte imbalance seems to be the source of any discomfort. Taking "Hi-Lyte Electrolyte Concentrate" 2-3 times a day relieves it.

🏋🏾‍♂️ Went to the gym last night. The hip was totally fine, but I did put less weight on the bar for the deadlifts. However, I did all my other lifts with the normal weight. It seems I can 'carb up' on the protein drink and still lift my normal weight.

🥛 Basically, when I got home from work, I had one scoop of "Quest Vanilla Milkshake Protein Powder" with heavy cream and Splenda in hot water. After drinking it, it hit my blood sugar so hard I had to lay down and take a short nap! Then I walked to the gym and this is what I did:

[3 sets of each]

Bench Press - 85lbs (10 reps)
Deadlift – 90lbs (6 reps)
Squat - 110lbs (10 reps)
Ab Crunch - 120lbs (10 reps)
Pullups - (10 reps)
Shrug - 110lbs (10 reps)
Bicep Curl - 40lbs (10 reps)
Pushups - (10 reps)

However, that was only 2 days fasted, let's see if I can still do this on Thursday when I will be 4 days fasted.

🏃🏾‍♂️ I'm off for a 5 mile run. Every day that I am not weight lifting I plan to run 5 miles a day. I also walk for an hour on my lunch break at work (since I am not eating), and @PrincessValerie and I walk for an hour after work most days.

Have a good day everyone!

@minitata - Thanks! I know there is no way I can continue to lose 2 pounds a day, but, it is nice while it lasts :)

sounds great! glad having the protein powder before the work out seems to be working and other than the concern with the hot water making the drink react differently with you it all sounds good. Good weight loss too, I think with your heavier work outs running walking and weights you can get away with your higher calorie protein drinks the way you used to do them. It still puzzles me on why the hot water makes a difference unless it fuels the body faster somehow. that one is a puzzler. instant high.

Your liquid meals during your liquid fasts probably taste soooo yummy.

wow, great job! 👏👏 I want to be like you 😏

@baskington - I also don't know if the hot water reduces the effects of the Protein. But it does give a high.

@chesgreen - Yeah basically my calories during my 'fast' is now up to 900 a day!

@keilin-4 - Haha you were working out before I was!

Yes but I can't do a whole week fasting 😞

The problem is that I have to much food at home

I don't think it reduces the protein at all, I think something in that method gives a big bang instead of a slow and steady feeding in the other method you used.

You are really doing it. You are my motivation. I got to get focused, How hard is the 5 mile run?

So glad the hip pain didn't stick around long and that you are doing so well on your fast!

@nikeit - Turns out the jogging is what is causing my hip to hurt. It is not bad. I will simply take Motrin.

@foxxy51 - The run is nice and easy and feels great. My average mile is 10-11 minutes a mile.

@chrisw77 - Ok the test will be on Thursday as to what I can do! :)

@baskington - After I drink it I noticeably 'sweat', literally! Perhaps a 'thermogenic effect' ? This does not happen if I, for example, drink hot tea from the same Keurig. I really suspect my body is consuming all this protein like carbs, but has to work 'harder' to make that process happen.

Oops - sorry that it is the jogging that is painful - hope the motrin will help!

Great plan! I was a lill worried about consuming too much concentrate. You don’t think it holds extra water weight? Also, be careful with that hip. You put it trough a lot. Being over weight and then all that intense running could have made something weak.

@Crashtestdawnie - Yes it does cause water to be retained. However when fasting water retention is not a problem for me at all :) I am shedding it faster than I can drink it.
