SoCalPam's Journal, 02 August 2018

I'm leaving next week to visit my son in Oregon. Hubby and I are driving up from So Cal, so lots of opportunities for rest stop junk food! Instead, I'm going to try and kick it up a notch so that I can lose four more pounds for an even 20 lost since the last time my son saw me. Four in a week may be way too much, but it will give me a good goal to shoot for.
155.2 lb Lost so far: 15.8 lb.    Still to go: 20.2 lb.    Diet followed 100%.

When my son and I used to travel we always packed a cooler full of decent food so we could eat that on the trip rather than the junk normally found on the road - we even used to grocery shop during our many road trips to fill up that cooler - have a wonderful trip!!!!

Thanks! I am a big believer in packing my own food. I used to sit on the cooler in our VW bus on family road trips as a kid, LOL! Hubby would prefer healthier food as well, so we're in sync, which is a plus.

To combat the junk food cravings I usually only leave the car and go inside when I need to use the restroom. I keep a small ice chest in the car. If it’s a long trip I pack fresh veggies, beef jerky and a few of the protein or energy bars along with a protein shake. The kids have their own plastic tub with their chips and junk. We buy drinks only as they do need a treat and hubby can grab me a water or diet soda. Ahead of time I cut up veggies and weigh it. I write weights on each baggie and try to make an even 100 grams of each of possible. I can’t finish it at once usually but log it as one snack. When I go to finish it, is seems like a cheat/sneak and I don’t have to log calories again. Maybe making up healthy snacks and bringing them along would help some of your craving and help you not go crazy on the gas station junk food. Enjoy your trip and the time with your son!

I definitely have to take a cooler with diet friendly items. Travelled last weekend and this cooler saved me! Jerky, olives, tuna with parm crisps and fat bombs. Lots and lots of water!

I hope he notices the weight loss instead of thinking you got a haircut and not saying anything.

Like everyone has said best to carry food with you. If you do stop to eat somewhere, you can look online ahead of time for the restaurant menu what is friendly for your woe.
