momma6224's Journal, 18 June 2018

I took my kids to visit my parents last week...it was a fun week full of bad food choices. I have had a bad month when it comes to diet. I feel a bit down...not sure where my motivation has gone. Heading into the gym now...I really don’t want to, but I’m making myself.
I’ve had a few close family members be less than nice to me since losing weight—I know there isn’t anything I’ve done wrong, but it hurts. What is the point of getting healthier and thinner when people you’re close to act irritated by it? Even my husband seems irritated sometimes.
Sorry to vent, just feeling defeated. I’m grateful for the support of my friends here...people I don’t even know cheering me on and acting happy for me. Thank you! I hope you’re all doing well and have a good week.

I feel that way sometimes. My husband doesnt like the idea of me going keto as a lifestyle, and he argues that its a diet and diets end. I try to tell him how I feel about it, but he is completely against it. We actually got into a fight at Taco Bueno one day because I was saying that when I reach my goal, I am going to relax a little but still eat Keto and he was not happy about it. I could go on and on, but just so you know, I know how you feel!! I think you are doing great and am so proud of you!!

It comes with territory unfortunately. You do what you need to do to be healthy and happy. No need to defend your choices with family and friends. However you do need to sit down with your spouse and talk it out. Dont be defensive, surely he wants what is best for you. Good luck 🤗

People feel threatened and start beating themselves up when they see someone achieving goals they wish to achieve. Then they start trying to make the "achiever" feel bad, because they think it will make then feel better. It is sad that it is that way, but all you can do is try not to worry about what they say and keep doing what you're doing. It's obviously working. When someone I know is losing weight, I praise them and use it as encouragement as I try to reach my goals. mindset is everything. its great when you're in the zone and following your plan, but it is so easy to lose it. You're doing great and screw anyone that acts irritated by your successes.

I know how you feel. I get zero support for my efforts from my OH, but as he doesn’t cook I doubt he even knows I eat low carb and practice IF, as long as I cook for the family. Bit I’m doing this for ME, MY happiness and MY health. One of my daughters supports and encourages me and I don’t care what anyone else says... Look at all your NSVs as well as the scales.. you’re doing great 👍👍🤗🤗

I'm experiencing the same thing and may have to box in or even dump some of my more casual friends that are actively sabotaging me if they can't change their ways. It's different with family, obviously, can't swap them out, but you can be truthful about how their words/actions affect you.

You have to do it for you! It may sound bad but forget everyone else. Even your husband.

Sounds like some jealousy going on. Sad people can't be happy for others achievements.

This is not about them— this is about your health and setting a good example for your kids. If you only “diet” and do this for other people’s approval, it is a waste of time

Thanks guys. I know in my head this is for me and I don’t need to please anyone else—that I should do this for me and no one else—but my heart hurts a little. Thanks for the encouragement. You’re all awesome!

Don't let others bring you down or determine your course. You are doing great so dust yourself off and get back to it. You to this!

A life worth living requires an openness to let your heart ♥️ and mind 🧠 grow....some days are good some days are not...it is carrying on when you feel like stopping it is standing on the summit enjoying and appreciating the wonder and then seeking more.....and it is best shared with friends and loved ones than in solitary isolation....we your FS friends are part of this and here for you to keep you going or sharing the glory...we 💖 you x

At the end of the day, as long as your are happy with you and the progress you have made - then good for you. Don't let others determine how you feel about yourself. You got this.
