MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL!

Today is the 24th of December, the "big" Christmas event day in Denmark. Tonight is when we gather our families and loved ones, and celebrate. Most people eat "flæskesteg" (pork roast) or roasted duck. Several types of potatoes, pickled red cabbage, pickles, gravy and so many other good things. Then, we have a traditional dessert called "ris a la mande", which is a rice pudding with whipped cream and chopped almonds. In the mix is put ONE WHOLE almond, and the one who gets the almond gets a special little present. It's always a game to HIDE that you have in order to make the rest of the family stuff their faces silly. Well, that's gonna change this year. I think I have learned that stuffing faces silly is generally a bad idea.

We're just gonna be Wife, Daughter and I tonight. We're REALLY looking forward to it. Since Lodger is living with us for another few weeks, then we kinda miss our solitude just being us alone. Tonight's the night for that. I have instructed Daughter to bring out her cards for some games, and just generally hang with us tonight. It'll be nice.

Then, the next days, Christmas Day and on will just be general relaxation and enjoying NOT being at work.

The weigh-in? Oh that. yeah. I got my first little Christmas present from the FatSecret Gods. I am at a new low of 81.9 kgs. Not as much as I hoped for, but I'll take it. It does make it HARD, if not impossible for me to get below 80 by New Year. Oh, well. I will get there sooner or later. I will still make the attempt though, but 1.9 kgs (4 lbs) is a LOT in a week.

I won't do a too long journal today - it's Christmas and being on the PC is NOT what I want to do today. But I have to weigh-in and a few other things before I go.

So, the single most important thing to do here today is this:

MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL MY BUDDIES!
I HOPE YOU HAVE THE MOST AMAZING HOLIDAY!
THANK YOU FOR EVERYTHING!

I really mean thanks for everything. You guys have been there for so long, and I just love hanging out with you. I've learned so much through the last year's time, and I have changed in so many ways. I love the new me, and I love what you guys have done to me. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart. I hope you all have a very merry Christmas, and that you get to spend it with the people you love.

Today, I am thankful
- of my family. My wonderful, wonderful family that I love above all else.
- the AWESOME omelet that Wife cooked this morning.
- having days off from work.
- Rudolph the red nosed reindeer on TV.
- ....followed by A Christmas Story.

Have a Merry Christmas, folks. Life is good.

EDIT:
Since I am mentioning the evil anti-holidays kitty in the comments below, I figured I'd post a picture so perfectly describing her not-so-cheery holiday spirits. :)

This is a lovely journal. I love hearing about (and seeing) some of your customs. Everything looks so scrumptious and inviting, especially the pickled red cabbage. My Costa Rican mother made pickled red cabbage every year for me at Christmas when she was alive, and that was my special treat. It brings back good memories. Life IS good, Keld, and you have been such a tremendous support and inspiration to all of us. Congratulations on you 81.9kg. Such an achievement. Such a year of transformation. Glædelig jul og godt nytår, my friend, to you and your family.

Merry Christmas!! I am very new here but just read your post and wanted to say that my mother is from Denmark (we are in ontario now) but we do the rice pudding with the almond every year, and it's always fun! We always do the same thing, someone hides it in there mouth so everyone else keeps eating...lol Also, you didn't mention it, but another thing she does is that we always have real candles on our tree every year, and we light them when all the family is together there and sing Christmas carols. One of my favorite parts of the holiday, the tree looks so beautiful! Anyway, good luck and Merry Christmas to you and your family!

Salute to you too, BHA! As Pebbles stated, it IS tradition to have real candles on the tree. However, we have a war-hungry cat who detest candles, so we are skipping out on that one. :)

Thanks all round. The year has been a good one and here's looking forward to the next one with a glad heart. I have made real changes and like you, I am loving the new me.....and....my new friends here on FS. My boss asked me a few days ago if I would like to do a clinic in Florida and was very suprised when I said no. (nothing against Florida) He thought I would jump at the chance. I explained....for me it is not where you are.....it is who you have next to you that counts!! That's how I feel about you guys....my journey has become a joy, not a chore because I have you all to share it with and the honour of sharing in your personal journeys. I have shrunk on the outside but have grown more than I ever expected on the inside. Thank you Keld and all of my wonderful buddies, you all mean more to me than you will ever know. XXXXXXXX

@swimming - she's not just anti-candle! She's pretty much anti-anything. I'm glad I'm weening her off from being anti-cuddle. :)

Merry Christmas and thanks to you - I've only been here a few weeks but your company and support have been invaluable and your own journey inspirational, not just for weight loss but as a wonderful example of how to love life and embrace change. Btw, we too have a kitty and she is the reason we have no lights at all on our tree this year!
