kingkeld's Journal, 02 December 2011

Good morning. For those of you only reading headlines, check out the video below! :)

It's 5 am. I have exercised, gotten ready for work and eaten breakfast. I have packed my gym clothes and is essentially ready to go to work. I want to write my journal, play some music and then leave to punch in an hour early, save up some flex time for later.

Today, I got a BUSY schedule.

First exercise (done!)
Then work
Then I have a meeting in my little special project, that I will reveal more details on at some point.
Then I WILL HIT THE GYM!
Then, after that dinner
Then go rock out with the band.

It'll be a hectic but awesome day! It's all things I like to do and it'll be awesome! Yes, I actually am starting to like the thought of exercising. I can still find a million excuses, but I think I do like doing it. I'm getting into the habit and I like that warm-up for the day. It's a good feeling.
The gym? Well, I'm accepting the fact that I NEED to go. It's not bad once I am there but the walk there takes EFFORT! I think I can overcome this by simply planning it and making it something that I have prepared mentally. Getting ready in the morning, all my rituals and all that will now include packing my gym clothes and get going.

So how did I do on the weigh-in this morning? Well, bad AND good. I haven't really lost the weight I've been hoping for these last two weeks. Of course it's been a mess around Thanksgiving, but I have done (almost) well on all the other days. This morning I saw a gain again, evening out the loss from yesterday more or less. That's the bad news. The good news is that it's not fat gain. My fat percentage is at an all time low today clocking in at 8.4%! This really comforts me, as I can see my fat disappearing even if the weight didn't come down.

Which brings me to next topic of the day:

I know many of you - especially my buddy madaboutmoose - are curious about my desk at work. I've mentioned it a few times here, how I can put it at any height I like, and choose to do desk work while standing up and thus burning a few more calories in a day along with working on my posture. It's a good feeling and it really helps be avoiding backaches.

I finally got to do a little video demonstrating it. Here it is!

<iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/FH_8l4Db2tE" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

I hope you like it.

Watching this video was a true shocker for me. Here at home we only have one large mirror, which is Wife's dress mirror in the bed room. I don't really use it much other than to ensure I look okay before going to work. Other than that I don't really see myself full figure. Ever. I mean, I take a peek in store windows and stuff like that (anyone losing weight does that constantly, I think), but I have never gotten a chance to REALLY take a look at myself and how I interact, move and so on. I was SHOCKED! I can barely recognize myself. I am amazed how fast I move, and how effortless everything looks compared to how videos with me used to look. This is truly incredible, and it makes me not care at all about tiny weight gains and fluctuations. It's already all worth it!

Now this of course doesn't mean that I will be slacking on my project. It will actually push me to finish it. I'm just so amazed with the results I suddenly see for the first time.

So, today I am thankful for seeing that video, and making me boost my ego to the point where it's gonna be unbearable for my surroundings. :)
I'm thankful that it's Friday and the weekend is just around the corner.
I'm thankful that it seems effortless for me to plan to go to the gym this afternoon.
I'm thankful that I'm gonna meet and work with some awesome people today.
I'm thankful that I came home to a beautiful, fully decorated Christmas tree yesterday.
I'm thankful that my fat percentage is down.
I'm thankful that I'm not the least discouraged by the fact that I might not reach a new low this week.

I hope all y'all's Fridays are gonna be just as awesome as mine! Today I have 7.8 kgs to go to reach my final goal. Life is good!

Wow KingKeld.... You look so fit and healthy - a real cool dude :-) So good that you have seen this yourself, so you can feel happy and proud of your achievement, thus far. I can tell it has given you a real boost, and determination to continue until the end.... And we all need this towards the end of our journey. The desk design is awesome - and so easy to work - every office should have them, it would help us all with posture, obesity etc. Have a great Friday, enjoy your gym and jamming session :-)

Wicked desk...and how slim are you!!!! I know what you mean about realising how much easier things are. We have just walked back from town up a hill thet used to make me stop and gasp for breath...not any more, I powered up it like it was not there, carried on a conversation and had no shortness of breath at all!! It's not just about looking better, though that is often what makes us start this journey...the rewards are far more significant than I ever thought...I feel younger!

That desk is super cool!!!! WOW!!! Thanks for sharing it. Loved seeing and hearing you too and sounds like it was good therapy for you to see yourself as you really are ... no longer the "fat boy" you might still hold in your mind's eye!!! I'm delighted you are taking this week's weigh-in's in stride ... still with your eyes focused on the goal. To me you look great!! I find it difficult for me to imagine you losing another 15 lbs. Enjoy your busy day my friend!!! And Thank you again!!

You have a nice desk to help with your posture...I needed one of those when I had to stand and do my book work...I had boxes lined up on my desk as I could not sit for the pain..I had a ruptured disk and if I sat down the pain was unbearable...I finally had surgery that took care of it...but standing is a good way to burn cals for sure...Thanks for sharing...☺
