kingkeld's Journal, 30 November 2011

FINALLY! The weight seem to start coming off. I guess moving around a little more yesterday did the trick. Standing for a few hours rocking with the kids, and of course the morning's exercise video. I lost 600 grams, and I am hopefully on my way towards a new low.

I am starting to think that it's maybe also a psychological thing for me. I feel that I am ready to maintain, and I am tired of the same old stuff. I need some motivation and some drive. So, to get out of my comfort zone and the feeling of being done, I have set a new goal. I have changed my goal weight to my FINAL FINAL weight of 77 kgs. This means I am back on the green bar, and that I will need to fight my way back. I hope this works. I hope this is enough to stimulate me mentally to just keep going. :)

What is REALLY interesting is this: Normally, when I drop a big amount like today my fat percentage goes up. Perfectly normal, as I now weigh less and most likely shed some water weight doing that. It's only natural. See yesterday's journal for further explanation on this.

However, today - FOR THE FIRST TIME - my fat percentage registered as less than 10%! I am today at 9.8 percent. That's pretty damn lean.

Now, I am sure this is not an accurate measurement. I am sure this is NOT counted on my entire body, as I should be looking creepy skinny already. Also, as my dear buddy Sk1nnyfuture pointed out one day, if I still need to lose 8 kgs, then I'd be at a fat percentage of 1%, which is downright dangerous - and how would that go hand in hand with being in the upper level of "normal" BMI? No matter, it's a number I can follow, and it makes me feel pretty damn good to see it under 10. First time I registered it I believe it was in the high 30's or low 40's. I'm not sure about the exact figure.

Yesterday went well. It was actually a good day. I was busy at work, but got some things done, and more importantly, I got my calender cleared for today, so I can catch up on my piles. I only have one interview with a guy I couldn't catch on the phone, and I am suspecting him to not show up due to being back to work. That's even better. We'll see. So today is major catch-up day. I'm looking forward to this. A lot. It will give me rest and a more positive outlook on my work.

I already did my exercise video this morning. Wife and I woke up early - her stomach was hurting and her fidgeting around woke me up. Once I wake up any time remotely close to wake-up time I just can't fall asleep again. So I was up at 4 am to do my exercises, and again they were so simple and easy that I have no issue doing them. They're only 15 minutes and they feel very light, but I figure that they're much better than nothing. I think I will just keep doing this all week - every day if possible - and then from next week up it to medium level. I can tell that these exercises are made for very obese people, and I gotta realize that I am not in that category any longer. Hell, I'm barely overweight! (Wow. That is SO weird to be able to write! Feels good, though!)

Today, I will try to make a little video of my raising desk, so you guys can see what it is that I'm talking about. It's actually pretty cool. I love my desk, it makes me comfortable all day, and it helps me burn calories. I try to stand up and do my work whenever I don't have visitors. It helps me burn calories and work on my posture.

I slouch a lot if I'm not focused on straightening my back. I think it's a leftover thing from fat me. Having had the weight pull me down all those years definitely have left their marks on my back. So now I work hard on my posture, and try to shift the balance to straighten my back. It's not really that hard - trouble is that I just simply forget to do it. I'm getting better at it every day, though.

Tonight, Lodger will be cooking. I'm curious what she's gonna cook. I know it's an all vegetarian meal, no meat, so that should give an option of fairly low calories. I just gotta talk to her about what else she's gonna put in there. I need it to be low on cream, cheese and all that stuff too. We'll see. Hopefully I will know this early on, so I can plan the rest of my meals around it.

It's nice that she's cooking and pitching in, I just had culinary curve balls. :)

So, this morning I am done early with all my little doings. I have reported my weigh in on Facebook. I have reported it here. I have exercised. I have eaten breakfast. I have written journal. Now, I just need to go check out what all you guys have been up to since last time I checked journals and forums, then I want to play a set of our band songs on my bass. I have it all recorded, set up as our live sets, and I try to practice a full set every day. It's 2 time 45 minutes, so I usually try to do one in the morning and one in the afternoon.

Today, I am thankful for the weight seemingly starting to drop again. It's about damn time.
I'm grateful for my fat percentage dropping EVEN THOUGH I also lost weight.
I am thankful for new buddies here on FatSecret. I am of course also thankful for all the old buddies. Oh, how I love your little encouraging comments through good times and bad times.

And with that, I bid you all a good day. Life is good!

You are doing great Keld, I can totally understand you feeling done with the whole weigthloss thing, you only have 7.8kg to go, which we all know is nothing to you! There is no way anyone could get me out of bed at 4 am unless 1. There was a fire, then I would be out of the house in a second. 2. There is an exam coming up in 3 days and I have revised too little. 3. That's it really... But I love getting up at 5.30 it makes the day super long and I can get endless amounts of stuff done! Unfortunately my computer and desk is in the bedroom and OH loves his sleep in the morning...

Mmm "catch upon your piles!" LOL... Obviously not THOSE types of piles. Really interested to see your "raising desk", I have never heard or seen one of these - it sounds like a brilliant idea. Know what you mean about posture when you are overweight - I had these large "objects" on my front, which used to weigh me down, so that I never stood up straight. Now they have reduced, I find I am naturally standing taller, although when I am tired I have to concentrate on posture. Great news that you had a loss today, look forward to seeing an all time low - ooh and great news about the exercise DVD - you probably do need to "crank" it up - but it's good to start gently. :-)

I stand most of the time for my work but sometimes at very awkward angles. My bench is static, would be lovley to have a vice that would raise and lower...but I do have an amazing chair. It's called the bambach saddle seat. It is like a saddle as the name suggests, I have chosen it without a back support and you can alter the tilt for your pelvis. It hurt like hell for the first two weeks as it started to correct and strengthen my posture...but now...oh baby! Sitting in an ordinary chair seems really odd. They aren't cheap, like anything that is good for you, but take a look. XX

Hi Kingkeld - this is the first time I've ever replied to your journal (although you have quite the reputation on FS). Having been in maintenance a few time myself over the years - I find it harder than losing weight. So do what you can to keep motivated and learn from my mistakes - don't gain it back and have to start all over again!

You're soooo close, and I don't want to de-motivate you...but you know, it makes me mad that the insurance industry dictates our health care! Who the hell are they to tell you within a strict particular pound amount...what you have to weigh in order to qualify for this surgery! I would think that the dedication required to lose over 150 lbs should be enough for anyone...your doctor included - to go to bat for you! But by all means... do whatever you have to do to complete this journey! You deserve it, man...you really do!!! Great job!

Dying to know what you think of Lodger's vegetarian meal, Keld. Do tell. Interesting that you think that vegetarian means lo-cal. LOL. And lo-carb is almost an oxymoron. BTW, love your new goal. You're doing swimmingly.

You know what I keep thinking ... is that without the extra skin you have hanging around you might be damn close to your goal weight!!! The doctors should take that into consideration!!!
