Wow! I have been crazy busy. My last weigh in was 13 days ago.
The Scale: A loss of 3.4 pounds in 13 days! I'll take it. It has been a challenge to manage my good eating habits, with stress, less sleep, and not as much movement. I can tell it's really affected my health. I had to tweak things to accommodate the changes like lowering my calories in to offset not walking as much, etc. But it is good to know that the total change up in my life hasn't taken me off the rails, just made it bumpy. 😁
NSV: I did not give in to my food addiction! On campus, every building has a vending machine in almost every hallway. In semesters past my emotions (happy or sad) would send me off to the vending machine to get a bag of Doritos and a peanut M&Ms. This week has been particularly full of stress and a vending machine around every corner. But I said NO! I stood in front of it and went back over every NSV I've accomplished. As badly as I wanted them, I want my life back more. This was huge for me because it is the first time in my life I have had the power to say no. So the loss of the 3.4 pounds feels good, but being more powerful than my addiction feels so much better!

Sad that they have so many vending machines everywhere to tempt people attempting to get a good education. Good job on avoiding that mess!

Is it hard to go back to school being an "old" student? I'm 43 and thinking about it, but I am worried it will be too hard. It's been so long since I was in school.

One of the hardest things about cutting unhealthy foods out of your life is that in this society, it's seemingly available to you EVERYWHERE. And it's not like you get one food decision a day -- every time you walk by a vending machine, you have to make a decision, and our brains get tired 😉 Great job! 👍 If you focus on food quality, I suspect you'll find the weight goes down over time. Plus, I find the more I eat in a way that supports my health, the less I even want the stuff. I don't have great willpower -- it's just since I changed my diet, junk isn't as appealing. You may find this happens over time, too.

You go! My wonderful wife picked the raisins out of my raisin bran cereal this morning for me. I'm working to reduce my sugar. I expected that I would miss those little bits of sweetness in the otherwise less than palatable flakes. Interestingly, the result boosted the flavor of the walnut halves. It turned out to be not only a nutritional improvement but also a greatly improved taste experience. I cleaned the bowl! Best luck to you in your journey

Sara7200, yes and no. Being older than the rest of the students is hard because they are using what the recently learned to apply it. But, I have more real-world knowledge and that is invaluable. It is totally worth it. But in is very time consuming. I have to make sure I utilize my time to get the most productivity out of it I can.
If you can go, you should. I love it!

That is a momentous NSV! Big step that develops momentum going the right direction, and eliminates decisions that keep you from going the right direction. Excellent!
