Happy Resurrection Day (Easter) everyone! Jesus is risen!
I was wakeful this morning as I tried to figure out my recent health journey. What happened????
May 8, 2019 /149.5 lbs. Came out of retirement to fill an emergency vacancy.
Oct. 12, 2019 / 161 lbs. Eating cafe food, sedentary, working late, minimal exercise. Packed that weight on that fast!!! Carried the weight for the rest of my contracted work. By April, 2020/163.2/ BMI 30. Covid-19 sent us home in March and I was shocked to get on the scale and saw that I was obese. That got me going. Working remotely was a godsend.
Nov 2020 lab work classified me as prediabetic! That reading put me in a tailspin!!! By then I had managed to drop 10 pounds for a BMI of 28.
February testing showed that I dropped one point A1C. Weight was 143. One more point will get me to normal range and I won’t stop there.
Today, I’m at 138.8 lbs. and holding on to muscle mass. Regular BMI chats classify that as overweight. The BMI chart for older adults put that weight at normal. My diet and exercise is very good I think. Starting today I will make raw foods a larger percentage of my meal plan and increase strength training. Along with that I plan to meet my calorie goal. I don’t mind losing more as long as I don’t lose bone and muscle. But I can be comfortable at this weight.
It really helped to write this out because I was totally confused about how the weight jumped on me. A summary of how- Stopped eating at home Stopped logging food Irregular weigh-ins Sedentary lifestyle. Returning to work literally almost cost me my health. I was inspired to not take the job permanently, and that was a right call!
All the best on your journey! Maybe my missteps can help someone else.
