I admire your dedication, getting up in the middle of the night to make sure you have time for a workout! My standing rule is that I don't get up before 6 AM unless there's an airport involved. Glad to hear that you're seeing a difference in your runs. Always encouraging to feel stronger and more fit. Will try to follow in your example and get a run in on the treadmill this eveing. Keep it up!

Love the new pic DKing! You can see how far you've come. That's awesome! I hear you on the Holidays and life affecting our routine. I was MIA for a week and I am so happy to be back in full swing again.

Wow.... Fab pix, such a difference :-). I so admire you, getting up at that hour.... I am the same as gnat - there would have to be an airport involved, for me to get up that early. I think us Brits tend to be later risers, judging by some of the journals on here.

Well Skinny, I guess it's just how well you make use of the time you have. If I didn't have a 45 minute commute to work, and animals to attend to, I don't think I'd get up before five. LOL! You don't have to be a Brit to want to sleep in; getting up early is a discipline that you pretty much have to have a 'reason' for developing, before you work at making it a habit. Good to have you back M.Trublu; we've missed you. Thanks for the comments about the pic; we just don't see that big a change in ourselves, when we look in the mirror everyday, as others might see in us.

I think discipline is only half the story- some people just function better on different schedules and morning is definitely NOT my time. Even when I stick to a schedule where I get up early, it's a daily struggle that I never fully get used to. Waking up in the 7-8 window = happier, better rested, more productive Nat :-)

It is hard to get disciplined but you do seem to have cracked that....but getting it all together is the thing...but don't beat yourself up you are doing a great job....it will all come together just keep on doing what you are doing. The new pic is great you have come such a long way....I can see how proud you are. Congrats

You look trim! Congrats! If I got up at 3.30 I would have to go back to bed at mid day. It wouldn't go down well at work lol.

I too, get up daily at 3:30 am to get to the gym before work. I feel better during the day when I do this, but as you stated, you have to do both and I have always struggled w eating well AS WELL as being active...it's a constant fight for me.

Just noticed that my ticker turned yellow. Half way there. Still a long way to go. I feel so much better now. However, there is that old nature that wants to go back to the way things were. Cookies, sweets and nuts never looked so tastey! I just have to keep reminding myself that the long-term benefits of weight loss far outweigh the momentary pleasure of gorging myself on things I don't need. I know that I can still eat sweet things in moderation, but I have to remain focused. I am in control of my own destiny. You guys are great encouragers; and even though I alone am responsible for my actions, encouragement from my friends makes the journey much easier to navigate.

The difference is that you're enjoying the run, and the shopping part bores you. Sweet that you still go with her though. Makes me hopeful for my own marriage. :) Way to go on the yellow!! Though, there's no way I could get up at 3:30 am to run! Rather do that in the afternoon when hubby will actually JOIN me! Happy day!

I'd like my wife to join me too, but both of us on the treadmill at the same time would be a little awkward! :D Just kidding; I got it. My wife would never have any interest in jogging or running. I'm still working on her to go for walks with me (in places where they don't have cash registers). On very rare occasions, I will get her to go for a short bike ride, but it has to be in the 70's or 80's and she would prefer it on days when people set their stuff out on the curb that they don't want. :) She is an encourager, but not a participant.

Good job on the yellow! I hit orange recently, but slipped back to red. I will get back there again tomorrow! XD It sounds like our wives are very much alike! hehe Good job on your run too.
