Glen, that is after listening to more than 1 hr of meditations. The Urban Monk did a live chat about boundaries and how people will fight you when you set them. It must upset them that they no longer have control over me. Positive side is that I will go outside and enjoy listening to the birds and walk down to the lake. All problems will disappear during those moments :)

You will also remind them that you expect to be treated with respect, and they will remember that next time they think of you. Good work!

It was my mother who called. >: ( That's why I answered the phone). I just didn't want her to come see me today. She tried to sucker me into going to work instead

Sugar, I understand the family connection. My son and DIL live REAL close and have no problem asking us to watch the grandsons all the time. I watch them during the week no problems but the weekends are MINE. I screen my calls from them on weekends and then see if they leave a message.

I know how you feel about the vacation. I was a corporate suit for 30 years. Even my vacations were no vacations, I spent them working and on the phone with the company. Your parents will tell you (at least your mother will, fathers are generally a bit different) how to live your life until they are no longer with you, then of course you'll miss them. My mother was like that too. I sacrificed much of my life for those around me, for the company, my children, and it seems, I never had the time for me - well, I found that over the years, those sacrifices are what really made me happy. You don't realize it but those are the things that keep you motivated. Just take it in stride, Sugar. Enjoy the journey because when we reach the final destination it's all over :)

Rckc, my mother never watched my kids. She wouldn't do it. Her reasoning is that nobody watched us but her when we were kids. -- skydiverjim, you are correct. I generally don't like to look back, way more pain than good unfortunately. I like to say my life started 2 yrs ago. Every day gets better and better

Rguarino, I had done an intensive meditation to heal a very deep pain. It really helped. The man who led it had us go back to that moment and show how we would have treated ourselves in that moment. I was able to comfort myself and show how much I loved myself. Then the trauma from that disappeared. At the time of the real incident, my family blamed me and reminded me every single day for years that I ruined the family's reputation. I spent my life from 13 to 54 trying to prove to everybody I was a good person, I would sacrifice myself so nobody else would ever feel the pain I did. (I was a victim of a violent crime in 1974. They got away with it but when I see them in town all I see is old sickly men.) Maybe that was TMI. But I want people to know that not to give up, we will receive our rewards. What you put out comes back to you. That's why I (even tho I was accused) never did things that would cause me any further pain. I do swear once in a while. Still working on that

My last two jobs, one being the US Navy I was still getting emails and calls months after I left. Some people do not think they can live without us and others take the easy way out and just ask how to do things instead of figuring it out. Way to go Sugar stick to your guns, when it is all said and done with they will not care.
