Greetings Best Buddies:

How are all the warriors out there today? I am tired but gearing up to leave for the gym in a few minutes. Some days we just have to push forward, right?

My latest dilemma is all about carb counts - it is completely obsessive. I typically count TOTAL carbs and stay under 20 carbs - it worked but was pretty rigid. Lately, I am counting NET carbs to stay under 20 grams.

The difference is whether one counts the fiber as part of your total carbs or not. One source tells me TOTAL carbs is what you must use while another says NET carbs is OK to follow.

ANY Keto, LCHF people out there have an opinion?

Words of the Week:
"Nothing of true greatness comes easily."
I am dedicated, determined and diligent.

@ HM: I do not think fiber metabolizes as sugar. My intestinal health is fine since I do eat fiber with berries, avocado, and many oils - my question has nothing to do with fiber really - it is about how I choose to count my carbs in the end. I typically keep total carbs in the 20's anyway.

HCB-- I think you misunderstand my point. What I'm trying to say is that it makes good sense to count NET carbs, because NET is carbs - fiber, and since the fiber does not metabolize as sugar, you actually WANT the fiber. Among other things, it fills you up. BTW -- which oils contain fiber? I would be interested to know...

LOL @ HM - not fiber in the oil...but the oils seem to help with "intestinal activity" as some are prone to constipation on low carb. Thank you for clarifying - you are correct that I misunderstood you. I have increased my total carbs this month to include more fiber overall.
