Good Evening, FS Warriors! Did pretty well again today. Left for home, having only consumed under 800 calories. Loaded up the equipment for the nursing home visit and started setting up at 5:30. I did call that young lady up to sing the Keith Whitley song (When You Say Nothing at All) with me. She must have been nervous up front. Last month, she sang it with perfect pitch, in the back for all the residents that were there. Today, not so much. However, I think everyone enjoyed it, including her. I just played to keep up with her, and pitched in a little louder when she got a bit confused. It was the first time I'd done it in public as well, but we pulled it off. It wasn't like Kenny Rodgers and Dolly Parton though. ;D
Stopped at Dairy Queen afterwards, which I had figured we would. They wanted ice cream, but I hadn't eaten yet. I had preplanned to have the chicken salad, and I didn't see anything on the menu that tempted me to change my mind. I experimented with dipping my fork in the ranch dressing, and dipping a little salad on my fork in the dressing. In any case, I only used about 1/2 of one of the ranch salad dressing packages. Even though the salad was acceptable for a fast food restaurant, I think they are a little stingy with the grilled chicken. I could have used another 200 calories worth of grilled chicken. Oh well, decided to try to get my intake up to about 1400 or 1500 calories when I got home. They all had ice cream, but that really didn't bother me. So, that's three days of sticking to a fairly rigid eating plan. I am trying not to be too restrictive, because I am all too familiar with binges caused by depriving myself of too much for too long.
It is coincidental and strange that the friend I knew in the nursing home that was not allowed to have his guitar in there, had died 10 days ago, and I didn't even see the obit. His wife, who is also a resident, gave me a copy of his obit. He was 83. He had gone in for shoulder surgery, and they kept him in the hospital for two days, and sent him home on a Saturday. He died that night of a heart attack. We weren't close, but he was a character and we would always talk for 20 or 30 minutes when we saw each other. Just a likeable guy. He couldn't read, but carried his bible with him always, and knew how to go right to some of his favorite passages. I know where he is now, and I'll see him again some day.
Well, that's about it for today. I hope you all had a wonderful day. Perhaps we can chat tomorrow. Toodles!
