on a separate note: I actually think potato chips are a whole food. I mean they are made of potatoes, salt, and oil. right? I'm not talking about cheese laden, starch infused, chemically modified, popped or pringles or cheese curls, all of which are oh so yummy. but good old classic potato chips. what do you guys think? I am not having a chip attack right now, so i think i can have this conversation sanely! i have to say potato chips are the one major food group i have trouble with. without. is there anything else crisp and crunchy that can satisfy a salt craving?

I agree, but then again I'm a potato person. Fries are my go to food when I cant decide what to eat. I think it's cause they can fit any mood. You can have them with ketchup, mustard, mayo, ranch dressing, cheese, chili, green chili cheese, gravy etc. Even Mrs. Potato can't refuse a classic potato chip.

I check this list put out by the FDA to reduce acrylamides I eat because I already had cancer 11 years ago and thankfully survived by changing lifestyle and choice of foods.

If you want chips, and can adjust around them, have them. It's better than having 10 other things in compensation. I often find a little sea salt on a fresh crisp apple accomplishes the same thing ~ crunch & salt.

Agreed, they are a whole food. But they are laden in calories and will not move you towards your goal. And, remember, if they are a trigger food, best to stay away. But in all, you're the one that knows your behavior with all foods.

Bella I would probably love the apples with sea salt! I am avoiding apples for a while now since it's on my list of food sensitivities! Thanks everyone for the comments! I'm going to have to look up acrylamides; I've never even heard of that! It's good for me to note that I broke my food addictions a while back. For now, the cravings are better satiated, otherwise they linger on forever . . .. . .
