Finally got another pair of headphones, this is about the only way I can run naturally (not on a treadmill). Otherwise, I lose motivation. The music helps to keep my mind off of what I'm doing, which also helps me to go longer and farther.

I hear ya there. My best (on the elliptical) running song was by Pink "18 Wheeler". It was enough to speed me up and slow me back down before I passed out. I also like coldplay "Fix You". Its really slow the first 2:35 minutes, but then the next 2:30 minutes I would get in a about a half mile. I had a hard time finding a enough songs so that I wouldn't get bored with the same ones. I did 3 miles a day 5 days a week. Then stress fractured my foot.

Sorry about your foot :( As for the music, I try to listen to rock or upbeat pop. The faster the song, the faster I go! The slower the song... Oh, and I try to update my playlist every couple of weeks or so, otherwise I lose the motivation.
