How Much Water Do You Drink?

Just curious how much water everyone is drinking a day. Have you seen better weight loss results with an increase in water consumption?

I drink a liter at work and maybe half that much at home. I should probably drink more instead of all the Diet Mtn Dew. My better results come from not drinking beer or any other calories for that matter.
Pain is a by-product of a good time.

I drink 3-4 pints of liquid a day (water, dilute fruit squash, tea)
No "better weight loss" as such, but when I monitor it and ensure I drank at least that I've had fewer unexplained plateaus.

Down from 60" waist jeans since June 21st 2012.

Still keeping to my 26" jeans, but they are too tight for comfort. too many tasty things in the US, and over Xmas.

I DEFINITELY see more weight loss when I drink lots of water. I drink A LOT. At least a gallon per day.

I couldn't even begin to estimate. I sip all day long. The only thing I drink other than water is my coffee in the morning. I drink until I "PCC" (Pee copious and clear).

And I agree with Kingkeld. I see a definite improvement if I'm drinking. Or rather, I see a definite negative impact if I'm not. Not sure if it's sodium effect, or that I don't move my bowels as much or as easily, or if it's real fat metabolism, but there is definitely a slowing of the scales if I back off.

I generally take 8-10 glasses of water a day..and i also include fruits like Lettuce,Watermelon,Grapefruit as they contain good amount of water.

I drink half my body weight in oz's of water daily. I don't really know if it makes a difference because I only concentrate on the effort and consistency when I'm focused on eating healthy.
I'm not losing WEIGHT. I'm converting FAT to MUSCLE to be healthier.

I drink a lot, and when I don't I can see the differnce in everything. My muscles get tight, my skin is dryer, and my body functions aren't as regular. And yes I do feel it helps with your weight loss too. I have read two important things about water in my education process about good living.

The First, which I've read in a few different places: Is that your muscles are surrouned w/a fine membrane, like you find on your chicken or steaks, and if you don't drink enough water they will become tighter and stiffer. Thus, you get the feeling of being crampy and tired...and not wanting to work out. Whether this is true or not I cannot say, but I do find for myself it tends to be true. If I don't drink enough I feel stiff and tired.

The Second I cannot confirm and have only seen it once: For every 5lbs your over weight you should add 8oz more water to your daily intake. Now mind you when I worked this out I was "holy crap are you kidding???" Unless I want to live in the bathroom I cannot drink what it worked out too, but it did make me more accountable to the amount I do drink a day.

So....after this tangent of ramblings: YES!! WATER IS GOOD!!! DRINK IT!

I try to drink at least one gallon of water every day. I see a huge difference if I don't drink enough, at the end of the day my ankles will be swollen, my skin will be streched and tight on my legs, I will actually be able to press a finger into my leg and leave an indentation - it's awful!!! I will also have a bump up on the scale the next day - so I make drinking water a priority!

Not enough plain and simple, people on high protein diets like the one I was should drink a lot, if I drink a couple litters a day is probally a lot

100oz per day is my goal, but I live at altitude (5280 ft) and am doing CrossFit. If you are at lower altitude, you wouldn't have to drink so much; suggested is 1/2 ones body weight, in ounces. My doctors says urine should be 'almost odorless, almost colorless', lol. Smile

HiSmile I drink at least 3-4 litres of water a day. I find that squeezing fresh lemon juice into my water helps with the cravings for something to eat as it actually gives the water flavour. I have also found that by filling a glass up instead of drinking out of a water bottle encourages me to drink more. I work as a receptionist so dont really move as much as I probably should but since drinking more water and sticking to my restricted calorie intake diet I have lost a substantial amount of weight and am feeling fitter and healthier already Smile Good luck on your journey

I've also heard you are supposed to drink half your body weight in ounces of water. For me, that comes out to be almost 80 oz. I have a water bottle at work that I try to get in at least 60 oz and then I call anything I drink at home "bonus." I haven't seen a big difference in weight loss but I have been cheating a lot lately. I do agree that I feel much better when I do drink my water Smile

Water should be drank in smaller quantities at frequent intervals help to optimise hydration.
A simple way to calculate the approximate amount of water you need to consume in one day is to multiply your weight in kilograms by 0.033. This will give you the amount in litres. For example for a person weighing 60kg: 60 x 0.033 = 1.98 Litres of water to be consumed daily.

I drink a good few litres a day. The reason it makes a big difference to me is because if I was drinking anything else it would be extra calories. Drinking water when I can drink as much as I like and save calories!
