So I have the extra funds and I've decided I have, I mean HAVE to FINALLY get Chloe's name tattooed on me... somewhere

1. Dunno where
2. Dunno if I should just do her name or a name and design or like what I did for my baby brother
(he's the year of the monkey, so I got a monkey holding a heart with his name inside)

Ideas Please Very Happy

I have Loo's hand prints on my forearms with her name(first and middle) in her hand writing under both of them (She was 3 when I had them done.)
Flowers or vines with the childs name in the leaves/petals are kind of pretty.
A friend of mine has both her boys birth month flowers tattoo'd on her leg and then their names running up the spines.

I am not sure if you have any limitations as to where you want to put it or not but if you do feet are always a good place (healing can be a bitch). Shoulder blades aren't bad - putting lotion on your own back can be hard lol.

How big are you thinking?

You say you want a cheeseburger but all I hear is "I need love" - a comic strip on the fridge at work.

You have failed only when you quit trying. Until then, you're still in the act of progression. So, never quit trying and you'll never be a failure.

My foot healed really nicely hardly no pain. I love the idea Rachel about on your legs because they hold you up! my friend has a vine with flowers and she has left room for the chance of adding more flowers if she has more children. she has thier birth flowers on the vine with there name on the stem to their flower.

Oh pain wise I had no problems with my feet - other than it was late October and it generally snows here by late October so it was interesting.

With foot/leg tattos they generally recommend you stay off them as much as possible when new (at least my shop does) to prevent ink loss, damaging the tattoo. If you have a job like mine where you have no choice but be on your feet at least half the day I would suggest thinking about it long and hard before doing it.

I can tell you, I have both feet, both forearms, my left shoulder blade, my right inner wrist and my right collar bone done - The worst aftercare wise was my shoulder because I have tiny arms so making sure it was cleaned and that lotion was applied were interesting. My tattoos all healed with no complications or issues.

Everyone is different though but pain wise I think the worst was my collar bone and that was just because of the way I had to sit for the tattoo.

Oh I also saw a lady that had her kids hand prints on her back and inside the handprints were animals - it was a very pretty tattoo.

The options are really endless. I would look at some examples online and see what you can find and if you like anyone than take the idea into a shop (or draw it if you can) and have them work with you.

Do you know how big you want it?
I think the idea allieaac mentioned sounded cool.

Now it looks fantastic!

Whatever you do, I'd advise that you draw it up (or have it drawn up) then stare at it for a few weeks. Spend the time to decide whether it's something that you really want on your body for the rest of your life.

Hoser's idea is a valid one. Tats are forever. Good to have the design up on the fridge for a while so you can see it daily before having it done. I have both my upper arms tatted but didn't do them until I was in my 40's. My kids say it will be a wonderful way to identify my body. LOL
Teens coming to school with big names (usually a girl or boyfriend) tattooed on their necks is going to come back and bite them in the butt when they get older.

I just got a tattoo I knew an idea of what I wanted but I didnt have it planned....I doodled it at work one day and that afternoon it was on my foot. I had drawn other things that I wasnt happy with and then the day I got my tattoo I just knew that I loved it and that I wouldnt regret it. I also feel like since I drew it no one else will have it but me.

Hoser has a great idea, I actually make mine my desktop wallpaper, and my phone background and if I don't change it right away its a good sign I won't hate it forever.

@Shockpanda, my mother always says the same thing "well... if something ever happens we will be able to identify you easily" lol.

I so want a tat. I have three kids. So I want one big heart with three hearts inside. And inside the heart of my child I want a heart for each of my grandchildren. I want it on my foot so that when I wear flip flops the tip of the heart is in the V. I've wanted this for over a year. Just don't have the funds. Can't wait to see what you decide.
I'm thinner today than I was yesterday but not as thin as I will be tomorrow. One day at a time.

Thank you everyone for your responses...

I LOVE the hand print idea...I started toying around with a sun & moon but was kinda EH about it but the handprint and her name in her writing...my heart melted a little bit!

Top of my foot won't work b/c my boss is old fashioned and I cant have it showing (I wear dress shoes to work)

The tattoo for my brother is on the outside of my left calf, mid way down. I was thinking back of my shoulder for Chloe's b/c I can cover it at work and easily show it off outside of work and I want it to be seen. I'll probably end up with more than one for Chloe bc she's my baby haha
I want to touch up my brother's tat and get a "matching one" on the outside of my right calf for Chloe...she's year of the Pig so a cute cartoon like pig holding a heart with her name in it.

But that hand print idea...
Pixi I could just hug you! lol

hahaha I love my handprints with her hand writing - although it was very hard for the artist doing the writing because its all shaky and she wanted to straighten the lines lol

It all depends on the kind of hand prints you want too.. mine are actual hand prints, I dipped her little hands in ink, put them on paper took them in and had them done, I have a friend that traced her kids hand prints and then they were filled in that way.. I just think hand/footprint tatoos of peoples kids are adorable.

I second Hoser's advice. I have eight tattoos and each time I seem to add one because the prior one feels incomplete. I have the names of my girls tattooed on the insides of my biceps. It hurt like hell but it was a small sacrifice for the girls that I love so much. I got the idea from the Italian soccer players who all seemed to have the names of their children tattooed on the insides of their arms.

For a woman I don't know if that would be a good look. My wife has toyed with the idea of getting birds or butterflies added to her lower back piece with the names of our girls somehow incorporated into the drawing. Good luck with it and post photos after you get it done!

I have my kids names on my inner wrists (one name on each wrist), with a small pink flower next to my daughters name and a small blue star next to my sons. I didn't want them to be on show all of the time because of work-wear but didn't want them too hidden either. With them being on my inner wrist I can show them off if I want to but can also cover them easily with long sleeves or jewellery if necessary. Also they are quite femine as they are small and pretty. I have one other tattoo which I regret but I love these so much and will never regret them because of what they are.
