Hey guys I have always struggled with my weight now I am at the point where i am wanting to get serious about it and not only lose fat but build muscle so i have joined this forum and been doing great about writing down all things I eat. however I have been watching what i eat now for about a week and a half and exercising but I haven't lost anything not even a pound. can someone look at my charts here and tell me if i am obviously doing something wrong? Thanks in advance!!

Hey bmurphuy102, welcome to the site. I have no expertise in this, but I know that I couldn't lose weigh eating as many calories as you're taking in. I know the 3700 calorie number probably came from this site but it wouldn't work for me. My dietitian told me to keep my intake between 1800 and 2000 per day. Hopefully you'll get more imput from other members soon. Good luck.

yea I am thinking that I am still over doing the calories each day as well so I am going to try just remaining at a percentage between 60 and 75% per day and try that for this week to see how things are going thank you for the warm welcome and also GREAT job on your weight loss!!

I have to agree with LRF. Maybe you should check your RDI and see if it's accurate. I'm generally around 1800 calories, but I started out about 40 pounds less than you're starting at.

I wish you the best of luck! Once you figure out what works for you, You'll get the hang of it!

I played with mine until I found something that worked for me. Once I found a caloric intake that seemed to do the trick, I altered my eating habits slightly so I got more bang for my buck (egg whites vs. eggs, always have a salad with dinner, etc.).

You can see a nutritionist or your doctor if you want to make sure you're at the right rate.

I like the Personal Diet Evaluator on WebMD. The questionnaire takes a few minutes to complete but the tradeoff is that you get a pretty decent estimate of an RDI based on your habits & goals. Give it a try.

Thanks to you, I zipped on over (I zip now, since my twenty pound weight loss - gosh it feels good) to WebMD and got my personalized Diet Plan. Pretty good if I don't say so myself. One thing for sure, it encouraged me to go out there and ride a second horse this evening.
And friends...just the fact that I'm riding again is pure heaven. Hard work getting them all brushed, tacked and ready but it is wonderful.

Nah Nah You should eat as this is your body's fuel. Better restrict the kinds of food you are eating like avoiding carbs (pizza, bread, etc) and soft drinks.
