I know it's a conspiracy right, trying to push us all off the wagon...jk, my husband and I went there a couple weeks ago, but I was good. I'm on adkins and we split a meal, I ate a burger and ordered a side salad no dressing or crutons and my husband who could do without meat and is a total carb freak wasn't too hungry, he ate all the fries and even my bun.

Id rather have ads for food than for crappy diet products. My last few ads have been Medifast, Kellogg's Fiber Plus, "Fix Your Thyroid = Lose Weight", and FS house ads. Oh, I guess I did get the Red Robin ad, but I would never have noticed it if you hadn't mentioned it-- it's forgettable.

I had a taco bell one the other day and had a good laugh at it. Although so far today I have been getting the same type of ads as Hoser.

You say you want a cheeseburger but all I hear is "I need love" - a comic strip on the fridge at work.

You have failed only when you quit trying. Until then, you're still in the act of progression. So, never quit trying and you'll never be a failure.

My favorite was the Aston Martin ad now at a special lease price of $2,400 a month! Oh boy!

The red robin is a movie. I refuse to listen to it. And I hate red robin. It's like 60 bucks for my fam to have burgers and fries. If I want an awesome burger for 1000 calories I'll go to Smash Burger.

I hate the one with the big gross overly muscular guy. Makes me feel bad inside.

The ads do stink but that is probably why they are able to offer the site for free so ..take the good with the bad I guess Smile

oh yeah Kat that one makes me shudder every time I see it. LIKE EVERY TIME! I have yet to be "over it". And raido I agree.. WTH every time we go to RR it is like 60 to 65 dollars for burgers and fries! My kids like that place because there is so much stuff to look at. Oh and just to ruffle hosers feathers.. time to install add blocker. Smile

I just don't think food ads on a weight lose site are good for those using the site...or maybe it's because I keep getting the See's Candy ads and I really like chocolate.

Sheesh, I keep getting All Clad ads on my pages, but perhaps it is because I did a whole journal griping about them....makes me wonder if they are stalking me...Rolling Eyes Laughing

Actually, they might well be stalking you, especially if you were on the All Clad site or were shopping for All Clad on some other site.

You can get rid of stalker ads by going to the NAI opt out page. If you do a web search for "NAI opt out" you'll find it. (I'm too lazy to dig out the link right now.)

Just use FireFox with the Adblock Plus extention, problem solved, no more ads. . . ever.

edit- Disregard my post above, as its a violation of the TOS.

At the risk of fanning flames...

You use FS for free. The only way they can make money is by showing you ads. I think that there's an implicit contract between the user and the website whereby the user agrees to have ads delivered in exchange for using the content.

Well wouldn't you know it is in the TOS.

The following is a partial list of the kind of activity that is illegal or prohibited on the FatSecret Website and through your use of the Services. FatSecret.com reserves the right to investigate and take appropriate legal action against anyone who, in FatSecret.com's sole discretion, violates this provision, including without limitation, reporting you to law enforcement authorities. Prohibited activity includes, but is not limited to:

3. covering or obscuring the banner advertisements on any FatSecret.com page via HTML/CSS or any other means;

But then this, FatSecret is not like those other diet sites that promise free consultations, profiles, plans or advice and then try and push you into some paid product or 'premium' service.
'We are totally free and we very much aim to stay that way'. Also, FatSecret is not affiliated, associated or in any way related to any of the diets or diet companies that are referenced on our site.

I understand the need for advertisements for the company to remain viable. I do enjoy using the site and the convienience of the Android app. I am not trying to bring a negative effect with this comment either. The problem is that these advertisements are a direct negative impact on the atmosphere the creators of FatSecret should achieve. Sure they should get to have banners and advertisements, its their site, we're mearly users bound by these terms. The problem is there is no descretion of the advertisements.

Fix thyroid, red robin, and jucy burgers for groupon is ridiculous to say the least. I am in no way trying to "fan the flames" of your seemingly invisible fire and to be honest I use Internet Explorer 9 as it allows me to put a hotlink on my toolbar straight to the page, I use no adblock of any sort so I'm not violating any part of my "agreement" with the website. But I do maintaine that it is well within our rights and part of the agreement, to report any content that is inappropriate to the users on this site, being the advertisements themselves.

I would hope this comment won't lead to my profile being deleted or simply the post itself, as in their TOS, they would have every right to do at any time for any reason.

The ads don't bother me- I find them pretty unobstrusive. They aren't very big, don't make the page take forever to load and they don't take over your screen if you happen to hover over them by accident. For all the tools they give us for free, I'm ok with them being there. And you'll never be able to completely escape temptation, so you just have the steel yourself against it in whatever way you can. I find that at 1,000 calories, the burger doesn't really look all that great (especially when I can pull something equally satisfying for far fewer calories at home!).

To be honest they don't bother me much either, I'm simply advocating that the site can still remain viable and have revenue on ads that would better reflect the atmosphere of what is being achived by members of this site.

Agree with Jon.D there- the issue is not so much that there are ads, as that so many of them contradict the goals of people on the site, it just seems sort of jarring and incongruous. That being said I find them easy to ignore. It's just the principle of the thing that irritates me.

Anyone else weigh MORE after doing a poo!
Your interstitial tissues can swell after a bowel movement causing water weight to increase. It’s best to wait about 30 mins after you defecate.
