I want to start HCG drops and then will keep to an Atkins modest carb maintenance living. Please be a part of this forum if you want to use HCG drops or have.

Why not just lose the weight on Atkins? Why would you do something so unhealthy to your body as use HCG? I do not think you will find much support on this forum for that!

This diet was recommended to me by my Doctor. I have a lot of confidence in him to believe he has my best interest at Heart. He wanted me to take in injections but they were way too expensive , the drops are cheaper. After I lose my weight he wants me to go on Atkins which I have tried previously but was anxious to lose my weight fast & not get discouraged. In My Previous post I said I had gained 1.2 lb it was suppose to be 1/2 lb.

I don't understand HCG + Atkins. I thought HCG was supposed to make you burn fat and Atkins is supposed to make you burn fat.

Is HCG + Atkins supposed to make you burn more fat?
DISCLAIMER: I expect to lose this weight over the next 6 months to 5 years. I'm not going to feel like a failure if it takes an entire month to lose 1 pound. I'm going to feel like a success when that happens! I may offer advice that I'm currently not taking myself. Feel free to call me on that!

Both burn fat but Atkins will take a lot longer for the average person. You CAN lose up to 20 lbs in 20 days on the HCG drops. Just Google HCG diet.

I have googled HCG diet- and am still looking for any evidence that it works from someone who isn't trying to make money off it. You're losing weight because you're not eating. Have you tracked how much of that is fat loss and how much is muscle?

The HCG diet was banned by the FDA like 3 weeks ago...I am fairly positive that faja1946 is a scammer.

I believe it is the homeopathic drops that have been ban. Look at this and you will see it is all about Losing money because of the ones who buy the homeopathic.

I thought it was pretty thoroughly proven that HCG drops were essentially placebos. Am I wrong?

My understanding is that injected HCG is essentially a hunger suppressant, which allows you to eat unhealthily-small amounts of food while not feeling like you're starving (which you are).

I lost 13.2 pounds just by being on a low-carb diet for 5 weeks. Taking HCG drops doesn't make much sense, especially when the HCG diet requires an intake of 500 calories a day. Starving yourself doesn't sound like a good idea. In fact, it's only a temporary diet meant to last 30 days.

Sounds like garbage medicine to me.

Not sure what the purpose of this would be. It is certainly not something Atkins would ever recommend that someone would do. Eating high fat and moderate protein helps you to not feel hungry, what is the purpose of the drops??

I'm taking the HCG injections. I've read every single thing I could get my hands before I started and still continue to read. People either love HCG (drops or inj.) or hate it. For me it's working and I'm positive at the ends of my phases I will have developed better eating habits that will last me the rest of my life. I would suggest finding a doctor in your area if HCG is a path you choose. Please don't get it on line. You have no idea where it's actually coming from. There also seems to be a lot anti HCG'ers so this might not be the best place for a support group. I have several good friends and facebook friends on various phases of HCG and we started a little support group on facebook. FatSecret is an excellent resource for helping track my fat, carbs and protein. For me obesity is far greater a health risk then any side effects from a round or two of HCG.

If you don't find death to be a bad side effect. As there have been reported cases of deaths due to HCG. But as for op why not do as others have suggested and go with Atkins and save the money you would be spending on the drops? Even if your doctor suggested it you might want to get more then one doctors opinion as a precaution to your health.

I was on that stuff when only injections were available. There is no way you can remain healthy limited to 500 calories a day. You are in constant ketosis and lose your body's own protein along with the weight. I ended up with a huge case of vitamin deficiency with sores from the roof of my mouth to my esophagus because my body wasn't utilizing the vitamins they were giving me. My advice is if you insist on staying on that diet, also see your family doctor or another doctor outside the clinic. There is more to good health than losing weight.

Hi, just my feed back on the HCG. I did it three times and got my weight down to 155 from 190 in about 6 months. I felt soooooo good. I followed the after care to a T. but then I got a carb craz feeling and gained back more than where I started at Sad. Landing at 200#, I have never weighed that much. I did a couple series again and got down to 180. Again I did pretty good, but got a carb craz feeling and gained up to 229#. I have never weighed this much in my life!!. I blame it on the HCG. I lost pounds wonderfully and felt sooooo good. But the second you eat any carbs..... bamm..... the weight comes back on almost over night Sad. I am now on the new weight watches program, and that teaches how to eat sensible and not use any fad to get to your goal so that you can continue the same plan when you hit your goal. I have learned, for me, that following some strick guideline, will set me up for failure later.

I lost my wife last year after she used HCG for 39 days. She was following the diet and losing the weight. Everything was fine for the first 30 days then she developed red blisters from the back of her mouth down her throut. It was very painful and seemed to me to look a lot like strep. There was no fever or any other symptoms for that matter. I blamed on the drops and insisted that she stop using them. She did but after it was to late. She had gone to the doctor for the blisters and they put her on antibiotics. After 5 days the blisters got worse. She went back to the doctor, now they said it must be a virus. So after 7 days the blisters started to go away. But now the vomiting started. After several days of not being able to hold anything down I took her to the ER. They hydrated her and after 24 hours sent her home. Several days later she became dehydrated again. Back to the ER and this time they found that she has gall stones. Admitted her and scheduled the proceedure. After the surgery the vomiting continued and she had an attack 2 days before the surgery. I became scared for her at this point. I could hear the fear in her voice as she explained the attack to me. She could not see, the virtigo was so bad, her eyes just twitched around all over like crazy. I felt so bad for her. Then the tingling started in her feet and legs and they became numb. Her nerves were shutting down. They ran tuns of tests. Put her in ICU just to clear everything with our insurance company. They found nothing. Nothing... At this point It had been almost 5 weeks without food. I was just about to file a grievance with the hospital when they diagnosed her with Gillian Barre Syndrome. They treated her for 6 days. She stroked so many times that her brain was flooded with blood to the point that it deteriorated her brain stem away from the brain. She also developed phenomena and the rest of her organs began to shut down.
So if you ask me or our 3 children HCG is a very dangerous diet. My wife was 35, she did have a bad gull bladder so it doctors told me that it was a series of events that body just could not handle. But it all started with the HCG drops.

HCG is human chorionic gonadotropin, a hormone produced during pregnancy. As a prescription medication, HCG is used mainly to treat fertility issues. HCG is not approved for over-the-counter use, nor has it been proved to work for weight loss. Companies that sell over-the-counter HCG weight-loss products are breaking the law.

So why has there been so much talk about the HCG diet? Perhaps it's because the diet recommends severe calorie restriction — typically just 500 to 800 calories a day. People who follow such a very low calorie diet are likely to lose weight, at least in the short term. However, that level of calorie restriction has risks, such as gallstone formation, irregular heartbeat, and an imbalance of the electrolytes that keep the body's muscles and nerves functioning properly.
