In honor of k8yk's excellent thread on what is on our most eaten list. Before you started your life style change (not a big fan of the word diet), what WAS on your top 10? I'll start:

1. Tea
2. Whole Wheat Bread
3. Eggs
4. bacon
5. American Cheese
6. Hamburger (including EEK Fast Food Burgers)
7. Processed Lunch Meats
8. Ice Cream
9. bananas
10. cookies

Interesting that 4 items are in both top 10's. I'd still eat everything on that list, but most of them only as a treat and in very small quantities.

Wellll...this is just a guess, and it also depends on when the "lifestyle change" happened (for a while, I've been eating a little differently, but didn't really pay close attention until recently):

1. Coke Zero/Diet Wild Cherry Pepsi
2. Pretzels
3. Cinnamon Raisin Bagel
4. Cinnamon Life cereal/granola cereal
5. Tacos (usually homemade, at least)
6. Sam Adams or Beaujolais
7. Pizza - (sometimes homemade, sometimes takeout)
8. Corn chips and salsa
9. French fries
10. PB&J

Fortunately, my wife usually prepared dinners with healthy ingredients - her pizza and tacos are in fact pretty sensible. The breakfasts/lunches/snacks/beer and wine were all my fault though. Just looking over this list I'm wondering how I survived this long....

I have been trying to change my lifestyle for several years, so mine is also a guess. In no particular order, I'm putting foods that I used to eat.

1. Fried Chicken
2. Potatos (Fries, Mashed, Baked, White or Sweet, Scalloped, etc.)
3. Ice Cream
4. Spaghetti
5. Pizza
6. Bacon, Egg, and Cheese McGriddle
7. Corn Dogs
8. Chocolate
9. Peanut Butter

Most of these are bad, and some are good but I had no sense of portion control. I had no want to stop eating until I was lethargically full. Because I like my curves and I feel sexier the bigger I get, I welcomed the sight of me naked in my mirror. Everything was fine until it started affecting my health and physical abilities.
Dieting is like religion. There are the basic rules that everyone should follow. The rest you personalize to a lifestyle for the best results.

Haha, nice. This is guessing obviously, but here are some things I used to eat a lot of that I no longer, or rarely, eat:

1.Starbucks Venti Iced Chai with Soy (which I mistakenly thought was "healthy"
2.Starbucks Pumpkin Cream Cheese muffin (If they had it, I'd get it)
3.Turkey Reuben with extra dressing on the side with potato salad and a coke (lunch of choice, at least once a week)
4.Ice cream (every night before bed)
5.Spaghetti with meat sauce (hamburger + jar of sauce)
6.Wine (by the bottle)
9.Chips (Any kind- potato, tortilla, you name it)
10.Wendy's Spicy Chicken sandwich with ranch instead of mayo.

And I really thought I didn't eat poorly and thought I was just overweight because god hated me or something Smile

1. Black tea with milk or soy creamer
2. eggs (soft-boiled, scrambled, omlette, fried) I love eggs!
3. cheese
4. homemade bread
5. butter
6. bananas
7. soup noodles
8. ice cream (half the time I made it myself)
9. cookies (mostly homemade)
10.broccoli/cauliflower cheese

In a way it is not that different than what I am eating now. I have cut down on the cheese (both amount and frequency) and butter, only make bread using whole-grain flour, and have not had ice-cream for six weeks now.

I tried to go through my list of "most eaten" foods of all time, and was pleasently surprised with how healthy I've been lately!

As for before my lifestyle change, my diet was something like this:

1. Beer/wine/any liquor I could get my hands on
2. Pretzels
3. Multigrain Tostitos with extra spicy chunky salsa
4. Scalloped potatoes from the deli
5. Chicken divan
6. Dr. Oetker's Hawaiian pizza
7. McCain's sweet potato fries
8. various chocolates from the sweet box that my boss insisted sit on my desk at work
9. Maestro's take out pizza (feta cheese, black olives, spicy Italian sausage)
10. A&W's bacon and egger/McDonald's egg mcmuffin with bacon/Tim Hortons bacon and egg breakfast sandwich on english muffin.

I still eat some of these foods, but am better when it comes to portion control and moderation now!

I can't believe how often I'd shovel this crap into my mouth though. Ick.

Great topic, Gefd!

Coffee Creamer
Ice Cream (Rocky Road)
Chocolate candy
Chicken wings (although they are still there a bit)
Frosted Mini Wheats
Macaroni and Cheese

My list before starting my weight loss plan was a cardiologist nightmare:
1. Ribeye Steak
2. Cheese
3. Leg of Lamb
4. Bacon
5. Eggs
6. Cream
7. Starbuck's Venti mocha with whipped cream
8. Nuts
9. Salmon
10. Lots of candy and sweets

Afterwards, besides laying off the sweets and switching to more lowfat or nonfat alternatives, and adding more fruits and vegetables, most of my diet is pretty much the same. The difference is the portion sizes. For instance, now I only have 6 oz. of ribeye, not 16 oz. Yes, I would consume a full pound of steak at one sitting...what was I thinking?

4. Lasagne
5. French Bread
6. Pancakes

10. Pizza (Just couldn't get enough) - LOL, I really hope I'm over it, I think I have eaten enough to last me the rest of my life for sure!

I think comparing my before and after lists is a good illustration of "A little knowledge is a dangerous thing."

I used to think my diet wasn't that bad, and figured the doughy physique was just how I was meant to be. After all, I was drinking diet soda instead of full strength. Chowing pretzels instead of sour cream & onion potato chips. Granola cereal or a bagel instead of pancakes and butter. Spicy chicken sandwiches and large fries at Wendy's instead of Triple Baconators Embarassed

Fiber? Protein? Complex carbs? Wasn't even aware of whether they were in anything I ate. I figured as long as I wasn't eating deep-fried foods, my diet must be healthy.

I still eat a lot of the same foods, just smaller portions of them. But the unhealthy stuff that I have mostly cut out now are:

- cheese (I don't just sit down and eat a whole wedge as a snack now)
- cream and sour cream in stuff I cook at home
- Hot Tamaeles - a bag after lunch every day
- Smartfood white cheddar popcorn - breakfast most days
- a large Caesar salad with two scoops of chicken salad (the mayonaise-y kind) on top - a frequent lunch
- tortilla chips with guacamole and salsa - they're a treat now, not a daily snack
- two glasses of wine with most of my dinners - now a glass or two about once a week

1. Green Tea Smoothie with non fat yogurt (still tons of calories)
2. Low Fat Turkey Bacon Breakfast Sandwich
3. Rockstar Punched Energy Drink
4. Salted Mixed Nuts
5. McDonalds Mini Deal (McChicken, Small Fry, and Diet Coke)
6. Homemade Chocolate Chip Cookies
7. Cool Ranch Doritos
8. Sour Gummi Worms
9. Peanut Butter Mnm's
10. Junior Mints

I've been watching my calories for over two years, but I didn't get really smart until like 7 months ago lol. I didn't eat a ton of the junk food but portions were the main problem.

4. Domino's cheese pizza
5. Paneer (which is Indian cheese) Butter Masala + tons of rice and naan

7. Wine
8. Other booze
9. Einstein Bros. asiago bagel + cream cheese
10. Cheese sandwich on white bread

Gosh. I sure do like cheese!
