Yes, I have it too. I was diagnosed after I had my second child, 3 yrs ago. AND....the weight is a struggle!!! I have realized that what I used to do, does NOT work for me anymore! A dietician told me to count calories and exercise. So, that is what I am doing. I am allowing myself 1200-1400 calories on a day where I am not very active and 1300-1600 calories on a active day. I began my diet a few days after New years and I have lost 5 lbs this month...what I consider a healthy slow, steady weight loss! Im done with the crash diet days...For me, Its all about making a healthy positive lifestyle change for good....and it seems to be working for me so far...BUT, I do know hashi's is a battle and one I will fight with forever now....but my boxing gloves are on!!!!!

I'm glad the hear that it is NOT that easy to lose weight. My doctor drove me nuts shen he made Hashimoto a non-factor in weight loss. I am really struggling plus any teeny bit of salt adds to the mess. Thank you for the positive posts.

I do not have Hasimotos, but I was born sans thyroid. Thank you relz. I just joined the Hypothyroidism group.

I realized that my last post provided no value. It is certainly possible to lose weight with a diminished or no thyroid. This is my second time trying to do it!! I think the biggest issue is to get on the correct dosage.

I have thyroid issues too...loosing weight is def. a challenge, but it CAN be done. You can google how many cal. does it take to loose weight per day, then if you have a thyroid issue I was advised to deduct 200 cal. from that. I've been trying to eat approx. 1200 cal. a day. I was eating only 1000 but I think that was a bit low and my metabolism was in starvation mode and i couldnt' loose weight...i keep monitoring it though, i might have to drop back again to 1000. Good Luck!
