I'm 40 years old with 2 boys ages 4 and 6. We are taking them to Disney this summer. I was horrified last summer when we went to an amusement park and was to FAT to fit in the rides with my sons. I refuse to see that look on my son's face this summer. I work 50+ hrs a week with 45 min. commute each way to work. Exercise is very hard for me to fit into my schedule. Chips and dip are my weakness.

The good news, a healthy lifestyle change to reach a healthy weight is mostly about good nutrition. You CAN lose significant weight without much exercise at all. Is this the best way to go about it? Most will say not really, but if losing weight is your only goal, it can be done. Exercise, as a part of a lifestyle change that centers around dietary changes, is a good way to lose fat, build stamina, improve your cardio-pulmonary system, etc. However, even with all that work and commute time, you could find 20-30 minutes 3 or 4 days each week to some exercise if you really want to.

Did you know that losing weight is 80% nutrition and 20% exercise...although exercise is extreamly important for all over health, strenght and well being...if you are careful wit hyour nutrition you will be riding the roller coasters in no time Smile

I totally feel you. That is one of my reasons to loose weight. We have a local amusement park, but I know I don't fit in the seats so there is no way I am going and embrassing my 8 and 6 year old. I am trying to work really hard to be able to go this summer. I really want to go to disney in 4 years, when the baby is 4. But I don't want to be fat.

Adding exercise is easy( ok easier said than done, lol) put on some music and dance, even if it's only 10 min at first its better than nothing. If you can at your lunch break take a walk,or get off the elevator one floor below and climb the rest, take the stairs down. I know you are exhasted when you get home, but little things will help.

keep it up Smile

Ten minutes is a great start. I purchased an elliptical toward the end of last summer. My first time on it, I thought I was going to drop dead after the first three minutes. It gets better.

I had the same experience at a local amusement park. I barely fit in the rides.
If you watch what you eat you can lose weight. Almost all of the weight I have lost I've done without exercise. I know I need to start exercising to keep the weight loss going though.

Hey, Don't worry to much about Disney. They are big people friendly! Now, Universal on the other hand, not so much. We go to Disney every 3 months and if you don't get exercise before hand, you will get it there. Our las visit was during Thanksgiving week and we at all meals on property and I lost 6.6 pounds while I was there. I love Disney!
On my way to be the best me that I can be!

As bad as it feels to not fit on a ride it feels as good to be able to fit in them again.

Hello! also- what is going on with the RDI?
You can double check with another site and see. Better to leave exercise out when you do these calculations.
