http://spikediet.blogspot.com/2010/09/this-is-what-i-didnt-do-lose-125lbs.html

I've told everyone how I've been able to lose all this weight and keep it off. Now I want to emphasize what I didn't do to lose 125lbs, because I feel like there are many desperate people doing the wrong things because they believe that the only way to lose weight.

Loved it. Spot on. I really blame shows like The Biggest Loser for misrepresenting the point of weight loss. It doesn't have to be torture. It can actually be pretty fun and rewarding if you let it be!

Brilliant. I really liked the bit about the necessary journey of weight loss, and the learning inherent in that.

Although I agree with your other points, I'd like to note that your research on low carb eating is incomplete at best. For example, regardless of ketosis, your body will manufacturer all the glucose that organs like your brain and heart need. This process is called gluconeogenesis. I won't sully your thread with a long list of refuting points/studies/quotes so I'll just suggest that you may need to do some more research.

I guess there's really no pleasing some people. Laughing (Source: http://bit.ly/ekORk0)

Thanks for sharing it Russell! And let me just say that in the few months I have been here, I have seen you around the boards & you are a valued contributor. I have a long way to go & I appreciate the fact that you & many others in maintenance (that's right, shout-outs to k8, matt & rjenkins! Woot woot!) still hang around to offer support to those of us who really need it to keep us going. Very Happy

True, but with gluconeogensis protein is used before fat for energy, and sometimes directly from our lean body mass. If we go into muscle catabolism we will pay with lower metabolism.

I've learned in the past to not argue with Atkins dieters, I am very happy it works for you.

Personally I was in ketosis for about 2 days and I feel like a 3rd day may have killed me. I am too much of a carb lover and the feeling of the "Atkins flu" was too much for me.
