Used to follow Leslie Sansone's "Walk at Home" Program that's on YouTube where you can walk inside your home and it's designed for Part 1 to be equal to walking 1 mile outside. Many other parts you can add for more exercise plus it varies the activity (slow, moderate, fast) to improve the burn.... anyone familiar with it?
I'm starting back up on it today to make it part of my Atkins but it's not available to enter on the exercise diary to track it, all this shows is time..... anyway to change this around?

I have the books: "Walk Away the Pounds" and her "Eat Smart, Walk Strong". I like her style.

You can custom enter it. Get the calories burned from another web site or your pedometer and enter your information from there. Myself I just go with the time and approx speed that FS gives - I think it's 3.5 miles for excercise walking, log how long (20 minutes) I walked and let it go. I've seen some log their miles walked in their journal and keep a running total.

Good question. Previously I put it under "light home exercise". I wasn't aware of the option Karbear45 mentioned.

I LOVE Leslie Sansone and have several of her workouts although I haven't been doing any of them in forever. I just purchased Walk Off Even More Weight, which comes with a 2 lb belt and will be starting that along with the Induction Phase of Atkins on Monday. The workout has a total of 4 miles (2 of them are 15 min miles and the other 2 are 12 min miles).I haven't decided when I'll start wearing the belt since it's been such a long time since I worked out but I'll see how it goes. I'm doing a practice run tomorrow. This is a good question because I was wondering how to track it here as well. Maybe I'll just get me a pedometer tomorrow that tracks calories burned and try that.

I walked her two mile thing and it really built out a sweat.... I think it's just as effective as walking outside and i'm going to try and incorporate it into my life 3 times a week

I like Leslie Sansone too. I haven't used the tapes in a while either. Reading this makes me want to dig them out and get back to it. I just ran accross these posts while looking for buddies. I know most people are busy and don't have the time to keep up with buddies but it sure does help me. I wonder if there is a "Leslie Sansone" walking group? I will look and if not I will start one. We could talk about what tapes we're doing and maybe help each other along the way. I love FS but wish I could find some buddies that have the time to post to group and stay in touch. I'll see what happens with this group. Look for it and join if you want to walk and talk on a regular basis.

I just started the "Leslie Sansone Walking Fans". I need some help from all who have the tapes and can give some pointers to others that join.

I actually have the walk away the pounds DVD but tried it once and stopped it in the first 5 minutes. I'll give it another try!

You must be younger than me, I'm 50 and the tapes are about all I can handle. LOL The steps are easy to learn, I wish I could do some of those faster dance tapes so I could get more cardio in, but I just can't keep up. By the time I learn a step they have moved on to another. Try listening to some music and turn the tv down, that's what I do. I put some music on my ipod that keeps me going. Sometimes I have to play the theme song to Rocky over and over to get to the end. HA Join the group.

Just watched the Leslie Sansone walking video on youtube - looked simple and might give it a try. Someone should start a Leslie Sansone walking group forum or challenge - that would be easier for some of who are more challenged in the age/weight/flexibility category - LOL. I'm 52 and tried a zoomba class recently - I truly thought I would die. What was I thinking - 240 lb - which I was when I did the class - 230 lb now - that amount of weight don't move like that! I spent half the class marching in place - LOL - no fool like an old fool. I didn't really realize how fat or out of shape I was until then. Now I know and Leslie Sansone looks about right to me.

Hi, dihoward started a Leslie Sansone Walking Fans group. I joined so now there's two of us, would love to have the rest of you join us so pop on over and join the group, we'll both be starting tomorrow. I didn't get my trial run in today so tomorrow I'll just jump right in and do what I can do, afterall some is better than none. I'll be sure to let everyone know how I did.
LET"S GET WALKING TOGETHER!!!!

I like Leslie, and will use her tapes if I have to workout indoors and need to mix things up. But she can get boring. I mean, I can march in place watching a movie or TV program. The other issue is that I've worn a pedometer during her tapes and have also walked outside/on a treadmill. Leslie "miles" are different from actual miles. Which annoys me. Just call it a 45 min walk and not a 3 mile walk which it is not! LOL

I LOVE Richard Simmons! His tapes are so much fun and easy to follow. The Sweatin 5 and Disco tapes are my favorite.

When my husband was diagnosed with Type 2 diebities, the nutritionist gave us the Walking down your blood sugar. Needless to say, my husband has never done it, but I really like it. Great idea about a Leslie Sansone challenge.

I love Leslie! I have several of her dvd's so I don't get bored with them. I live in an area where there is no place to walk except the highway, and that is not safe. So Leslie Sansone's dvds work for me. I do get a workout because I follow her pace... it speeds up in the 2 and 3rd miles, and if you get the 4 or 5 mile ones, there are more things incorporated into it... stretchy bands, weights, etc. I mix them up and it puts variety in my workout! I take the dvd's with me when I travel and I play them on my laptop. I can always workout no matter where I am!! When I'm with family, sometimes they join in! It's good for them, too!!

I just bought 3 more of her dvd's. They are great. I know what you mean about no place to walk grandmanet without getting killed. Leslie makes the walking fun and keeps the motivation going throughout.

Minxyjean, using a pedometer with Leslie DVD's are not going to give you an acurate distance simply because you are not taking the "strides" programmed into your pedometer. I tried that too. Leslie's workouts are geared to getting the same exercise as those who do a cardio workout... the pace is set to get one mile in a certain timeframe. You keep up with that pace and you DO walk a mile in 15 minutes or less on the dvd I use most. I have beginner ones that start with a 20 minute mile.. so I use my pedometer when I'm actually walking at work... and use the miles Leslie gives me. Having difficulty entering "miles" in FatSecret, though.

Leslie's dvd's are the only exercise I got when I lost 95 pounds. I love movies and tend to be a couch potato. She helped me lose those 95 pounds. I've started back walking with her dvd's to get these 8 pounds I gained while laid off from work, and I've lost 2 pounds this week!

I have several of her dvd's. I really like the walk/kick one, which of course I can't find now. I dug mine out the other day and need to get using them.
