Seems to me that lately there has been a division of people building on this site so I want to pose a question.

Why are you here on Fatsecret?

For me it started as a good way to log my daily intake and expenditure. Then it turned into gaining encouragement and help in my journey and offering my advice, opinion, and experience in a positive way.

I decided to add the app to my phone so that I would have somewhere to record my caloric intake instead of doing it on paper. Through the app, I found out about the site and joined for support. I have encouraged some friends to join as well =)

Same Here. I loaded the calorie counter app on my android phone, and then I said "hey, what is this FatSecret Site it's supposed to sync with?" I registered at the site because they had these great charts and tools. Then I found out they had a great bunch of folks here that are very understnding and supportive. I never could have lost all this weight without you guys, Thanks!

I was well into my diet and it was recommended by a friend. Had the largest food database and really liked the scan feature. Also met a lot of very nice buddies to exchange ideas and solve problems.

I like the drama.

No, well, I do. But, if I really, really wanted drama, I would hang out at the WW boards. OMG. Those are crazy. Those people will destroy you if you give them just half a chance! They will smell even the tiniest bit of blood in the water. No joke! And, you can doing their message boards for free.

I like the tools. Originally found them on my droid. But, I like the online tools better. I've gotten a lot of good info from the forums, too.
DISCLAIMER: I expect to lose this weight over the next 6 months to 5 years. I'm not going to feel like a failure if it takes an entire month to lose 1 pound. I'm going to feel like a success when that happens! I may offer advice that I'm currently not taking myself. Feel free to call me on that!

I'm here because I felt lost. Period. I needed to find help and find it fast.
I was on SP but found there was way too much drama and not enough support.
I Need to be accountable for what I'm doing and I like that when I post a journal I actually get feedback.
I leave FS open all day in a tab. So when I'm working I can always look up and it feels like it's a constant reminder of what I'm doing and when I feel like I need to get some encouragement I just click the tab and open a world of support.

I like the tools. They are the best that I've found anywhere on the internet.
Everything is contained in one place, and it's so user friendly.
I also like the camaraderie, and the sharing of experiences.
There is such diversity here, and its really a pleasure to see.

I was previously on sparkpeople, and I couldn't log onto the calorie counter App on my droid with my teen account. Ditched that and decided to just start exercising and see if that would bring up some weight loss. It didn't so I decided to download the FS calorie counting app. I preceded to go on the website.

I heard they were giving away free candy.

But honestly. It was lose the weight naturally or by bariatric surgery. A year ago I lost my father due to complications from a very risky surgery. So needless to say I am kind of terrified of going under the knife and ofcourse my family was terrified too. Then I found out that the same thoracic surgeon who did my fathers surgery would be my bariatric surgeon, that sealed the deal for me. So I came here because I really need the support to go along with my internal drive that I'm missing at home.

That's exactly why I'm here. It's nice to have support from others who are going through the same thing being my husband and child are skinnies, lol!
My start weight was 336. This was taken on 5/14/10. Unfortunately I can't get this to correct itself.

I know "Foodisevil" was not the brightest choice for a name, but I was grasping for straws when most everything else I tried was taken. I know that not all food is evil, just chocolate and McDonald's, lol!

I'm here to reach my goal weight and stay there once and for all. I used to keep everything on paper, but carrying my Calorie King and food journal around with me everywhere was embarrassing. I can use fatsecret on my cell phone without anyone knowing, and it's a lot faster than looking everything up. The tracking tools are great, and the forums keep me motivated.

Joined because I was looking for an app for my Blackberry that would help be track calories. Now, it's all for the support. It's because of all you other wonderful people that understand and support me. Without your journal entries and direct support I would not be doing as good as I am. Thanks to all of you (even you rotten, mean posters-I learn from you how not to act). Have a great, successful and fun time everyone.

I joined this site a year ago b/c I was trying to lose weight for a specific event and thought this could keep me accountable. Then, an awesome person who is now a great buddy left me an encouraging comment when I had posted a discouraged journal entry. My love for the site snowballed from there. I've lost 17 lbs to date and can't imagine having done it without the support of my buddies. Smile
